Come along to Storytime at the Mount Isa City Library this week for a reading of the much-loved story, "Hairy Maclary from Donaldson's Dairy"! 🐶 Featuring special guest, Councillor Peta MacRae. It will be held this Friday, November 4, from 10am at the kids' area of the library. Come along for lots of fun, dancing and singing! 🐕

Members of Project 1000 - deputy principals from six Mount Isa state primary schools - recently met with Mayor Danielle Slade in the Council Chambers to seek Council support for a community "starting school" event in November.

The event will celebrate the excitement of early-learning experiences and starting school in Mount Isa.

Project 1000 connects families and the community to lift the academic performance and wellbeing of 1000 Kindergarten to Year 2 children in Mount Isa.

It aims to build on existing effective practices and partnerships across the early years, and meet the needs of every child, family and teacher, through intentional collaboration.

On Friday we had Marc from Deadly Australians visit the service! The children LOVED learning about all the different types of dangerous & non dangerous animals, what they should do if they see a snake & of course getting to pet and hold his friendly animals ❤️

R U OK? Having these conversations is hard, especially when you haven’t been exposed to them before. Talking to your children about their day, what made them happy and what made them sad, who did they talk to about it with? These are simple questions to start the journey of speaking up & reaching out.

The best phrase I was ever told is “not everyone’s plate is the same.. some have porcelain plates and some have paper plates..”some people can hold more than others can mentally & that’s ok - because no matter what plate you have it’s still full & you have a right to feel overwhelmed.
