❤️ MY TWO BLANKETS — LIVE IN MOUNT ISA! ❤️

We are so excited to bring Shake & Stir Theatre Co’s beautiful live production of My Two Blankets to Mount Isa this Thursday! 🌈✨

Inspired by the award-winning picture book by Irena Kobald, My Two Blankets is a heartwarming story exploring friendship, belonging, cultural diversity, empathy and acceptance — beautiful themes for our little ones, families and community.

📍 Mount Isa Civic Centre Auditorium

This special performance is FREE, and families with young children are warmly invited to join us. ❤️

Ngukuthati Children & Family Centre is proud to present this opportunity in partnership with Shake & Stir Theatre Co, with support from the Queensland Government Department of Education.

We would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Mount Isa City Council for their generous in-kind support, helping us bring this special community experience to the Mount Isa Civic Centre. 🤝❤️

We are so grateful for the partnerships that help us create meaningful opportunities for our children and families right here in Mount Isa.

Our little kindy have been super busy over the last school holidays...

You probably already noticed the massive mahogany tree gone, although we don't love removing trees 🌳 this one was necessary as
the massive roots were taking over our yard and started to create some hazards.

Thanks to Gambling Community Benefit Fund Queensland we received a grant to upgrade this space. That meant removing the tree, removing the 25 year old decking around our cubby house, adding a permanent shade structure to ensure shade in the area and some fresh new soft fall.

It wasn't an easy project but thanks to some awesome local businesses and our wonderful committee the job got done

We knew it was a big job but we seriously have some wonderful businesses within our community.

How great it was to hear that families drove past during the holidays and watched as the work was in progress and the children loved seeing the end result.

At the end of last year our educators collaborated with Renae from Double Deadly Arts. We wanted a large artwork on canvas that represented our kindy community. The artwork is a visual representation of our kindy and its values. The Wombat and Koala represent our 2 groups where the children begin their learning journey, these groups are where friendships bloom and where the learning begins.

The footsteps represent each child’s learning journey, each step is a testament of growth and love from educators and families. The circle in the middle is our meeting place - our kindy where we grow, laugh and create a community together to celebrate a wonderful milestone in your child’s life.

Today Renae visited the kindy to drop off the completed artwork and the children enjoyed looking at the artwork and learning about the meaning of the dots, shapes and animals within the artwork.

We are so grateful to have a local artist like to Renae who is able to capture an idea and create something so beautiful.
