Congratulations to the Skudda award winners! Friday’s assembly was fantastic. Whaea Paula shared her Māori culture through song about our tinana (body) with the Bush Turkeys and got everyone up singing and dancing.

What a skudda day celebrating NAIDOC and National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day at Kulkarriya!

A huge thank you to all our families and community who came along and celebrated with us. It was so special having everyone together and seeing our kids so proud, happy and involved.

A big thank you to all our staff for the hard work that went into making the day happen, and to Miss Chrissy for painting our kids’ faces!

And how good were our King Browns and Black-Headed Pythons at assembly!

Get your Skin Name/Kinship bracelets from the King Brown Class stall at our National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children's Day celebrations. Don't know your skin name? Ask your Mum, Dad, carers, or Elders. Don't forget! Our special assembly starts at 10:00am and will be proudly led by the King Browns and the Black headed Pythons. Come along celebrate culture and connection and community and wear your bracelet with pride!

Kulkarryia Community School Update 📢
We were disappointed to learn over the weekend that the Fitzroy Athletics Carnival had been moved forward by three weeks and is now happening this week. Combined with limited bus availability, this has made it difficult to involve as many students as we'd like and represent Noonkanbah the way we wanted to.
We'll still get up to 20 students to Fitzroy on Wednesday and we're planning a super faction carnival for the whole community later in the term — stay tuned for details!
In the meantime, let's celebrate together THIS FRIDAY! 🎉

The Joeys have started term 3 strong with so much fun learning! Our new Construction Zone has been a huge hit, and the children have loved using it as part of their learning through play. This week we explored the short i sound, with lots of fun hands-on activities and small group learning to build our confidence. We also kicked off the ELLIC program on our new iPads, and the Joeys have been having a great time exploring all the engaging learning games.
We were also very lucky to have the skateboarding team here again helping to develop our skateboarding skills! The Joeys had so much fun practising, it was wonderful to see so many children confidently standing up on their skateboards all by themselves through persistence and lots of practice. We can't wait to see what this week brings and all the exciting adventures ahead!
