The inaugural Mount Gambier Wellbeing & Sports Club (MGWSC) paintball event was a fantastic success, bringing together students from the Flinders Mount Gambier Rural and Remote Campus for an afternoon of fun, laughter, and connection. The event gave students the chance to take a break from their studies, spend time with their peers, and enjoy one of the many exciting activities that the Limestone Coast has to offer. It was a great opportunity for students to build friendships, create memories, and strengthen the sense of community within the rural campus. The Flinders SA Regional Training Hub was happy to support and supply ammunition for this event! 😄

Masterclass 2026 Let's hit the road and head to the hills to the charming, historical town of Hahndorf for a memorable Masterclass in 2026.

ADVANCED PAEDIATRIC COURSE BROUGHT TO MOUNT GAMBIER..
Flinders SA Regional Training Hub was proud to part‑sponsor 14 local practitioners to attend the APLS course held in Mount Gambier in June 2026. Supporting our rural workforce with local access to high‑quality professional development is central to our mission, and APLS remains the internationally recognised gold standard in paediatric emergency training.

We also acknowledge the wonderful collaboration with the Deakin Western Victorian Regional Training Hub, who supported doctors from their region to attend.

A huge thank‑you to Dr Lauren Kennedy and the APLS team for bringing this exceptional training to our regional community. Feedback from participants highlighted how valuable it was to have APLS delivered locally — reducing travel, easing financial strain, and strengthening the skills that directly benefit children and families in our region.

What a wonderful evening in Victor Harbor on 17 June. Our Flinders SA Regional Training Hub proudly hosted a stakeholder dinner bringing together BHF clinicians, GP partners, clinical educators, Flinders colleagues, and our regional 4th‑year medical students.

For many, it was the first time meeting face‑to‑face — a reminder of how powerful connection can be when our regional training community comes together.

We were inspired by words from Prof James Padley, Flinders SARM Program Lead, who spoke about the importance of collaboration, shared purpose, and the collective effort behind growing a strong regional medical workforce.

The night was filled with genuine engagement, great conversation, and plenty of networking.

To all our clinicians, educators, supervisors, and professional staff who contribute their time, expertise, and passion to support students and strengthen regional medical training - we want you to know how much it is appreciated! Your collective commitment is what continues to grow a skilled, supported medical workforce for our communities.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined us — your contribution matters more than you know.

Medical Students had an awesome time at RDASA Farmageddon 2026 — a full day of hands‑on rural emergency skills, real‑world scenarios, and plenty of first‑time experiences. From trauma sims to fire truck rides, it was a huge hit.

While NASA's Artemis II astronauts soared over the moon collecting valuable data, back on Earth, Mount Gambier's Dr. Vienna Tran is doing vital work to ensure space travellers remain healthy.

Dr Vienna Tran is an Adelaide‑trained medical doctor whose work bridges rural generalist medicine and space medicine research. She has worked across South Australia, including Mount Gambier Hospital, and has contributed to projects with the Australian Space Agency, focusing on astronaut health and the effects of microgravity. She’s also a writer — her illustrated card deck The Solar System became a bestseller — and she’s known for her interest in preventative health, anaesthetics, and aviation medicine.
