Yesterday morning, a group of our Year 5 and 6 students headed to Kaboom Family Entertainment to take part in the inaugural School Sport SA Ten Pin Bowling competition.
The fun and engaging event brought together students from local primary schools for a morning of friendly competition and teamwork. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to meet new people and proudly represent St Martins.

Last week, St Martins Lutheran College celebrated Compassion Week, a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Inspired by the compassion and love that God shows us, students were encouraged to put compassion into action through a range of initiatives supporting members of our wider community.
On Wednesday, students wore their favourite beanies and scarves in support of the Winter Appeal. Thursday saw generous donations of blankets, jackets, scarves, gloves and beanies collected for ac.care. Then on Friday, students brought along non-perishable food items for Foodbank SA & Central Australia, with a friendly House competition challenging students to create the largest heart from their donations.
Congratulations to Tremelling who claimed the win with just over 400 items donated!
On Friday afternoon, some of our Student Ambassadors and College Captains, accompanied by Mr Hein, delivered the donations to ac.care and Foodbank SA & NT. This provided students with the opportunity to see firsthand how community generosity helps support those in need.
Thanks to the incredible support of our College community, a total of 525kg of food was donated to Foodbank, helping provide an estimated 1,050 meals to people doing it tough.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to Compassion Week. We are very grateful for the generosity, love and care showed by our College community.

Saturday night saw the Class of 2026 come together at Noky to celebrate the halfway point of their final year. With a DJ, photobooth, awards and a packed dance floor, the Formal was the perfect excuse to put study aside for an evening and enjoy time with friends.

On Thursday, our Stage 2 Child Studies students put their research into practice by creating healthy lunchboxes designed for children aged 4-8 years.
As part of the task, students first investigated the nutritional needs of young children before designing a healthy lunchbox. They then applied their learning to create meals that met the Australian Dietary Guidelines while also appealing to the senses through colour, texture and presentation.
The practical lesson saw nine students bring their ideas to life in the kitchen. As you can see from the photos, there was plenty of variety, creativity and colour on display.
A big thank you to the staff members involved in supporting this hands-on learning experience.

Year 10 Drama students presented their play, 'Between the Lines', today with four separate performances. Between the Lines explores sensationalism in the mediaโespecially how headlines are written to grab your attention. In this case, the headlines are surprisingly accurate.
The cast brings to life the stories of unusual and highly emotional characters, including Sharon, who believes she is an alien; Sylvia, who refuses to remove her shoes at airport security; Art, who has five wives; and Mr and Mrs Belasco, who are hiding a fatal secret. These are just a few of the wonderful characters our Drama students performed, and all students delivered strong, confident performances.

Yesterday, our Year 5 students put their public speaking skills to the test in the Lions Mad Minute competition, an initiative of the Mount Gambier Lions Club.
Students were given a topic at random and challenged to speak for one minute, encouraging them to think on their feet while building confidence, creativity and communication skills in a fun and supportive environment.
A big thank you to Gayle, Wil and Marie for giving their time to run and judge this enjoyable event. We appreciate your support in helping our students develop these valuable skills.

Yesterday, our Year 3 girls enjoyed a free Power of Her Basketball Clinic with Mount Gambier Pioneers player Lucas Gordon.
The clinic, organised by Basketball Mount Gambier, is part of the Power of Her program, which aims to encourage and support girls and women to get involved in sport, build confidence, develop skills and create lifelong connections through physical activity.
Students had a fantastic time learning new basketball skills, taking part in fun activities and being inspired by one of the region's leading athletes.
We look forward to our Year 2 girls taking part in their own Power of Her Basketball Clinic next week.

Congratulations to Year 11 student River on securing a Carpentry Apprenticeship with GTE and Simcon Constructions!
River began his apprenticeship journey while still at school, undertaking a Certificate II in Construction Pathways. After completing a work placement with Simcon, he impressed the team with his strong work ethic, reliability and willingness to learn, earning the opportunity to be signed on as an apprentice.
Recently, our Head of Learning, Teaching and Innovation, Jo Patterson, and Group Training Employment Field Officer, Luke McLaughlin, visited River on site to see how he is settling into the role and to celebrate this exciting milestone.
We are proud to see River taking this important step towards a career in the building industry and wish him every success as he continues his apprenticeship.

Yesterday, our Year 9 Photography students visited Metro Bakery & Cafe as part of their Food Photography assessment.
With a selection of beautifully presented meals and treats to work with, students put their skills to the test, capturing images of their own dishes as well as those of their peers from a variety of angles and perspectives.
As an added bonus, once the photography was complete, students were able to enjoy the delicious food they had spent time photographing.
Thank you to Metro Bakery & Cafe for hosting our Year 9 Photography class and supporting this valuable learning experience!

Earlier this year, students were invited to enter our Musical Poster Competition, with many fantastic entries submitted.
Congratulations to Isabella, whose design was selected as this year's official poster.
Isabella spent many hours over the school holidays perfecting her artwork, and her hard work certainly paid off.
Our Year 6 students are now busy rehearsing for the production, which will hit the stage later this year. Keep an eye out for ticket sales coming soon! โจ
