As a driving examiner, it is difficult to fail an otherwise capable driver because of unclear or confusing speed-limit signs. However, examiners must apply the road rules and assessment standards consistently—we cannot overlook a breach.
Clear, visible signage is essential for fairness and road safety. This issue deserves urgent review so good drivers are not unfairly caught out.

“There’s your sign!”

A small stretch of Anzac Highway in Glandore has had a 40km speed limit in place for more than a year, often with no workers on site.

Some drivers seem to ignore the signs, according to 891 ABC Adelaide's roving reporter Troy Sincock.

Black Forest caller Kathy told Sonya and Jules that her son Leo had failed his licence test for travelling through the zone at 60km.

“He’d done everything perfectly but failed to slow down for that short period on Anzac Highway and unfortunately failed his whole test,” she said.

“Every time we go past it, we say, ‘Leo, there’s your sign!'”

Just saw this on ABC News — police Tasers and body cams can be tracked due to a Bluetooth flaw.

These are multi-million dollar systems… and still not fully secure.

Now SA wants to move driver testing into a more tech-heavy, camera-based system under Department for Infrastructure and Transport reform.

Simple questions:

-If police tech can be exposed, what makes this system safer?
-How much will it actually cost?
-Who pays — public or learners?
-Who monitors cybersecurity ongoing?
-And if there’s a breach… who is responsible?

This isn’t anti-change.
It’s about getting it right before rolling it out.

SA needs answers — not assumptions.

A classic near-miss — caused by drivers rushing the amber light.

In South Australia, an amber (yellow) traffic light doesn’t mean “speed up.” It means stop if you can do so safely — just like a red light. You may only proceed if you are already so close to the stop line that stopping would require harsh braking or risk a rear-end crash.

There is also a separate rule introduced in May 2025 for flashing amber lights on roadside assistance and emergency vehicles, requiring drivers to slow to 25 km/h to protect workers
