💃 Dance Curriculum Program returns in Term 3! 🎶

We're excited to once again partner with the fantastic Dance Curriculum team to bring an engaging week of dance to Birmingham Primary School!

During Term 3, Week 5, all Prep to Grade 5 students will take part in a series of energetic dance sessions as an addition to their regular specialist timetable.

Dance is a wonderful way for students to:
🎵 Develop rhythm and coordination
🤝 Build teamwork and confidence
🎨 Express creativity through movement
😊 Stay active while having fun!

This program has become a favourite at Birmingham, providing students with the opportunity to experience success in a different area of the curriculum while developing important physical, social and creative skills.

Presentation assemblies will also be organised on the Friday, allowing our students to display their new skills in front of their adoring fans!

We can't wait to see our students dancing, creating and enjoying another fantastic week of movement and music! 🎉

Today, Ivy and Taylah proudly represent Birmingham Primary School at the School Sport Victoria (SSV) State Cross Country Carnival.

To reach this point is an outstanding achievement in itself. Both girls have successfully progressed through school, District, Division and Regional competition, earning their place among the very best cross country runners in Victoria.

Today they'll line up against the state's strongest athletes in their age group—a challenge that reflects months (if not longer) of dedication, resilience and hard work.

No matter what today's results bring, you've already achieved something incredibly special, and our entire Birmingham community is immensely proud of you both.

Best of luck, Ivy and Taylah! We can't wait to hear how you go. 💪🏅🍀

Our newest art trail resident, Pi-Cow-So, is on the move!

By the time we see this travelling bovine again, it will be colourful, creative and well-travelled, ready to take it's place within our growing art trail.

We can't wait to reveal the finished masterpiece, adding another splash of whimsy and wonder to our fabulous little corner of the world.

🌈🎉 CRAZY HAIR + RAINBOW FREE DRESS DAY! 🎉🌈

Our amazing BPS Junior School Council students are making a difference in our local community by collecting donations for Felix House Lilydale, supporting people experiencing homelessness and hardship. ❤️

If you're able to help, the three most urgently needed items are:

💧 Slabs of water
🧦 Adult socks
👕 Adult underwear

Other much-needed donations include:

🧼 Soap and body wash
🧴 Shampoo and conditioner
🪥 Toothbrushes and toothpaste
🌸 Sanitary items
✨ Deodorant
🥫 Non-perishable food items

To celebrate the generosity of our wonderful school community, we'll be holding a 🌈 Crazy Hair + Rainbow Free Dress Day 🌈 on Tuesday 23 June!

Every donation, big or small, will help make a real difference to local people doing it tough. We can't wait to see how many items we can collect together!

🌈🎉 COLOURFUL FREE DRESS & CRAZY HAIR DAY 🎉🌈

Our Junior School Council students have chosen to hold a Colourful Free Dress and Crazy Hair Day on Tuesday 23 June in support of Felix House.

Felix House is a community drop-in centre in Lilydale that supports people of all ages experiencing homelessness or hardship, providing essential services and practical assistance to those in need.

Students are invited to come dressed in their brightest colours and wear their craziest hairstyles for the day. Instead of a gold coin donation, we are asking families to donate much-needed toiletry items or non-perishable food to support the work of Felix House.

Suggested donations include:
🧴 Shampoo and conditioner
🧼 Soap
🪒 Shaving cream
🌸 Deodorant
🩹 Sanitary items
🧦 Adult socks
👕 Adult underwear
🥫 Non-perishable food

Thank you for helping our students make a positive difference in the community through this important Junior School Council initiative.

🏃‍♂️🌦️ CROSS COUNTRY UPDATE 🌦️🏃‍♀️

After multiple weather interruptions, we’re hoping for third time lucky as we prepare to run a modified Cross Country event at school this Thursday, 14 May.

👟 The event will primarily involve interested students in Years 4–6 (with some Year 3 students also welcome to participate), and will provide an opportunity for students to qualify for the District Cross Country team.

📝 Due to the late rescheduling of the event, we have not been able to establish a formal opt-in process. Instead, staff will simply be asking students whether or not they would like to participate, while also making it clear that students wishing to pursue the Cross Country pathway beyond school level will need to compete in this event to be eligible for selection.

🙋‍♀️🙋‍♂️ We are also still seeking a small number of parent helpers — particularly to assist in supervising sections of the course near the staff carpark and along the front of the school.

🌌 A small disturbance in the Force this morning…

Apologies for the slightly sinister (and somewhat foreboding!) soundtrack that kicked off our day today 😅

In honour of May the Fourth, we set a Star Wars playlist to run across the school—but as it turns out, when you let the Force decide, there’s no telling whether you’ll get something from the light side… or the dark side when the speakers burst into life 🎶

The good news:
✔️ No confirmed sightings of stormtroopers
✔️ No imperial takeovers
✔️ Plenty of Jedi energy from our students and staff
