Tonight Scouts and Venturers had a busy but fun night. The night started with a visit from Jeff from legacy Nsw who came to talk about the upcoming legacy day that some of the youth will be participating in.

Then we got into the theme of Aboriginal culture night. This night was planned and run by Harmony as part of her SIA. Harmony started by performing her own welcome to country then spoke about the history of her Mob the dharag people. She than asked some trivia questions before showing the group some beautiful Aboriginal artefacts that she had brought in. The group had fun learning about and using some of the artefacts. Tyson then played some animal tunes on the didgeridoo which the group loved. Harmony did such a wonderful and informative job teaching the group about her culture. Very proud of her

To end the night the group did some brushing up on their knots and navigation to finalise some badge work.

Was a great informative and productive night had by all. Well done.

This week's Cubs Tuesday meeting was held on Wednesday, during which the Cubs visited our local SES Mt. Druitt. The evening was led by fellow Cub Scout father Peter and numerous other SES volunteers.

During the visit, the unit:
* Learned and discussed the functions of the SES, the specific equipment utilized, and its applications.
* Demonstrated skills in water and flood safety.
* Acquired knowledge of new knots, how to interpret local maps, and concluded the evening with an interactive experience involving lights and sirens, allowing the Cubs to board boats and SES vehicles.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the SES for their consistent dedication and for facilitating our visit, taking the time to impart valuable lessons to the children.

Sincerely,
Tiger and Possum

Our Scouts were out and about in our community, visiting and learning from the
MT Druitt SES – State Emergency Service.
Mt Druitt State Emergency Service

A huge thank you to the SES volunteers for taking the time to teach our Scouts such a vast range of important and potentially life-saving skills.also our cub leaders for organising and inviting the scout unit along

The Scouts had the opportunity to see the equipment used by the SES and learn what it is used for, why it is needed, and how it is used in different emergency situations.

It was a fantastic hands-on learning experience that gave our Scouts a greater understanding of emergency services, community safety, teamwork and preparedness.

Thank you to the SES for sharing your knowledge, skills and experience with our Scouts and for everything you do to help keep our community safe.
