Community helpers matching activity.
After spending the morning outside in the warm sun driving the coup cars, helping each other when they crashed and enjoying a snack we headed inside to complete our daily activity.
Today we completed a matching activity as a group. Community helpers such as nurses, doctors, firefighters, police officers, traffic controllers and plenty more.

After a couple of days off due to the terrible winter sickness we are back to end the week on a high. With so much built up energy ready to burn the children came running through the doors this morning. We started our morning off with some magic sand, then onto a dance party, next onto our planned activity making some police badges apart of our community helpers month. We then headed outside to enjoy to warm sun. Making tracks with the balancing beams, taking turns driving the monster truck and playing in the little puddle of water from the rain last night. Overall it was a very busy day and the children were super stoked to end the week at kindy enjoying the company of their friends. ๐Ÿ˜Š

We made a fresh batch of playdoh for the rainy weather day ahead. Taking turns pouring and mixing.
We then took down last months focus being ocean month and decided to change it up.
This month being all about community helpers. We placed up some posters explaining all the different helpers we have in our community from police officers to farmers and so many more. We went through all the posters up on the wall and read out the explanation of each. The children have been curious everyday pointing them out. We also set up the play table with a police and fire set. We some match up puzzles.

The sun is out โ˜€๏ธ
After being stuck inside for two days due to wet weather we were super excited to head outside today!
We spent majority of our morning outside enjoying our morning tea out there and some fresh air.
We spent the morning playing on the obstacle, and playing a bean bag tossed game. The children were just so happy to be able to get outside.

Tuesday rain day.
Stuck inside due to the weather. Made the most of it and made some rain sticks using rice, salt and old toilet rolls. Using spoons we scooped in the rice and salt and closed off each end with aluminium foil. We also had a balloon dance party and of course some playdoh play.

Brush and reveal activity.
This morning I drew some basic sea animals and placed it in a tray and covered with sand. Taking turns and using a paint brush the children brushed away the sand to reveal the sea creatures underneath. The smiles when each creature was reveal was so cute. We searched and found all the animals drawn on the paper and then I asked the children to find a specific animal. They didnโ€™t want this activity to end and it kept going around it circles searching for animals together.

Tuesday 25.6.24
Ocean month continues.
Today we made some ocean sensory bottles. It was a little bit of a process but the end result made it all worth it.
We collected some sand, some sea shells, and some coral. We used recycled bottles as our sensory bottles which worked perfectly. We used a funnel to add the sand at the bottom then the children choose what shells and coral they wanted to add and how much. We then all took turns in pouring our blue water in very carefully. The children did a fabulous job and were very pleased with the outcome of their individual bottles.

There are lots of benefits of sensory bottles. These bottles are an excellent tool to promote relaxation, attract positive emotions in the child, and provide a moment of enjoyment to relieve their tensions.

Today we added some starfish to our ocean wall. With a range of collage materials including beads, cut paper, shredded paper and sparkly stars the children began to create a masterpiece of their own. Having a range of materials for the children to choose from allows them to express themselves. We also spent a majority of our morning outside in the beautiful warm sun riding bikes and playing in the sandpit.

Ocean life continued ๐Ÿชผ

Today we made jellyfish to add to our ocean wall. This was a very challenging craft activity for the kids and they adapted so well. We started off with a half circle shaped piece of paper and took turns in hole punching along the bottom to created holes to thread through our ribbon. The most challenging part of this activity was threading the ribbon through the holes. Threading is a great activity for children this age with lots of learning benefits. Strengthens Fine Motor Control, strengthens fine motor skills, Improves Bilateral Coordination, Helps In Colour Recognition, Hand-Eye Coordination, Attention Span and Creativity. Once we had threaded the ribbon through I tied off knots so they didnโ€™t fall out and the children added some eyes.

Ocean wall background completed today.
We completed the sand part of the ocean wall using water paper pva glue and sand. Spreading out some glue on a3 paper and sprinkling sand onto it which will act like the sand on the wall. Now the background is complete we can add all our wonderful animals we will make in the coming weeks.
The children also started collecting lots of nature materials this morning such as leaves, sticks, flowers, seeds and rocks and asked to make some little potions. We all grabbed a little bucket each with some water and begun mixing and adding what they scavenged for.

Ocean week ๐ŸŒŠ ๐Ÿ
Today was the first art experience of our ocean month. Of course the first animal being a fish.
We decided to do a transfer art process. Using paddle pop sticks and a spray bottle full of water we took turns in individually soaking some paddle pop sticks before pressing down our fish cut out and revealing the transfer when lifted. Each fish is unique to the colours of the paddle pop sticks the children choose. Once these dry out we might repeat the process to enhance the colour.
The children were very engaged in the process and ask many questions throughout.

Process art encourages children to think outside the box, fostering a sense of creativity and imagination. Builds Confidence: There is no right or wrong in process art, so children gain confidence in their abilities and ideas.
