Quintilian School

Quintilian School An independent, private primary school where every child is known, every child belongs and every child thrives | PK - Yr 6

Quintilian School is an independent, co-educational, non-denominational school, established in 1975. The school is managed by the School Board with significant input from both parents and teachers. Quintilian offers primary education from Pre-kindergarten to Year 6. Quintilian is a community school where there is a direct partnership between the parents and teachers in the education of the childre

n. Academic excellence and rigour is pursued but equally, social skills, physical health and the arts are of vital importance in preparing the children for secondary schooling and their place in society. We maintain a teacher to student ratio of 1:20 and this allows our teachers to know, understand and cater for the needs of each child. A warm, caring environment is created where each child is valued and each child is known as an individual. The relationship between the teacher and the student is seen as vital if learning is to be maximized. A holistic view of education underpins the school’s approach and we want to develop a child in the areas of academics, creativity, social skills, community responsibility, health and fitness. Real life experiences enhance the learning process and children need to go out and view the real world as much as possible. A child centred approach is fundamental to the school.

🎨📚 BOOK WEEK PART 2 | From words to wonderful illustrations!

We were delighted to welcome talented children’s picture book illustrator - and Quintilian parent - to our school for a series of creative workshops with students.

Jennifer has illustrated many beautiful children’s books, including Fairy Beach and Fairy Forest. During her visit, she shared insights into the illustration process and encouraged students to explore their own creativity through drawing and storytelling.

It was especially meaningful to learn from a professional artist who is also part of our Quintilian community. Thank you, Jennifer, for inspiring our young artists and bringing the magic of picture books to life!

📚✨ Book Week 2026 at Quintilian was one for the storybooks!

Our school community came together for a wonderful week celebrating books, imagination and the joy of reading. Families joined us for a relaxed Book Week Picnic, Principal Elliott shared some special stories with students, and our much-loved Book Week Parade brought favourite characters to life.

From creative costumes to shared stories, it was wonderful to see students, teachers and families celebrating the books that inspire curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning.

What a wonderful week of discovery at Quintilian!

Acclaimed Australian children’s author and history hunter Mark Greenwood captivated our students with stories inspired by real people, places and events from the past. Wide eyes, eager questions and excited conversations filled the room, with many children keen to find his books and keep reading.

Our Pre-Kindy, Kindy and Pre-Primary students also welcomed West Oz Wildlife. They met carpet pythons Willow and Ninja, Gummy the koala, Cesar the sugar glider and Toothless the bobtail lizard. This hands-on experience brought Biological Sciences to life as the children explored animal features, diets, habitats, basic needs and conservation.

Two memorable incursions celebrating curiosity, storytelling and real-world learning!

PARENT SEMINAR | AFTER SCHOOL
RESET

Exploring the concept of emotional regulation | Tuesday 1 Sept 6pm

Many children put in a huge effort across the school day, managing learning demands, social interactions, routines, and busy environments.

By the time they get home, this effort can catch up with them and show up as meltdowns, big emotions, withdrawal, or exhaustion.

This session helps caregivers to:
• Understand why after-school dysregulation happens and what children may be communicating through their behaviour
• Explore the concept of emotional regulation and share practical, realistic strategies to help you feel more confident supporting your child after school

Tickets: $10

Can you solve the challenge? 🌀

Our Year 5 and 6 students collaborated to design mazes that were tricky enough to test their problem-solving skills, but still possible to solve!

Once their designs were ready, they invited our Year 2 students to put the mazes to the test. The younger students shared what they enjoyed, offered positive feedback and suggested ideas for improvement.

A wonderful example of curiosity, creativity and collaboration in action across year levels.
