John XXIII College - Perth

John XXIII College - Perth John XXIII College is a leading independent co-educational Catholic school. In 1986, the College moved to its beautiful location in Mt Claremont.

Grounded in Ignatian tradition, our Mount Claremont campus is home to students from Pre-Kindy to Year 12. Welcome to the official John XXIII College page where we offer you a glimpse of what our College has to offer. We offer a co-educational learning environment where all our students (Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12) are supported, on an individual basis, to reach their goals - both academi

cally and in their personal and spiritual development. At John XXIII College we are passionate about nurturing young minds and bringing out the best in our students. Our College is home to over 1,500 lively students and over 240 committed staff, and has served to shape the lives of students since 1977. John XXIII College commenced in 1977 following the amalgamation of Loreto Convent School and St Louis College.

Year 10 Reflection Day began with Mass, setting a tone of reflection and community. Youth Ministry Team then facilitated a series of activities exploring the theme 'Act Justly, Love Mercy, Walk Humbly with God', encouraging students to consider what these words mean in daily life.

The afternoon closed with an interactive presentation from YSafe, focused on how we can act justly when connecting with one another in the online world.

A meaningful day of faith, reflection and connection for our Year 10 cohort.

This year we will be guided by the vision of the prophet Ezekiel (47:1–12): a river flowing from the temple of God, which grows without stopping and brings life where everything seems barren.

Water heals, restores, and makes creation flourish. But it also challenges us: to recognise ecological damage, to embrace our interconnectedness, and to immerse ourselves in the responsibility of caring for and restoring our Common Home.

May this Season of Creation be a path for the healing of the Earth and human well-being to flourish together.

Our Years 7-10 NAS Athletics squad hit the track, taking on the other NAS schools with Mater Dei College joining the carnival this year.

With ACC selection coming up, it was the perfect opportunity for our athletes to test themselves under real race conditions and chase down some improved times. The emphasis was firmly on participation and performance, and our students made the most of it, refining their skills while enjoying a great day of competition.

Congratulations to Grace Nicol and Felicia Zhao, who represented John XXIII College in the 2026 Speak for Faith Competition, hosted by the Catenians and Catholic Education Western Australia (CEWA).

Grace delivered a thoughtful speech on authentic love in modern society, while Felicia explored what it means to be human in the age of Artificial Intelligence. Both students spoke with insight and confidence, engaging with the challenge of expressing Catholic faith in a modern world.

John XXIII College has a long history in this public speaking competition, and Grace and Felicia continued it with considered, well-crafted speeches. Well done, Grace and Felicia!

'The achievement of an environment and atmosphere that will allow for the personal development and fulfilment of every student, no matter what his or her academic capacity might be.' – Sr Denise Desmarchelier CJ, 1985

For five years, then Principal Sr Denise gave one day every week to planning our Mount Claremont campus – working alongside architect Tony Brand and in consultation with all staff to ensure that every decision, from the placement of the Chapel to the direction a classroom door opened, served the students who would one day walk through it.

Terry O'Connor, who chaired the Council, said the campus would stand as a monument to her. Forty years later, it does.

Calling all parents, students and alumni of the John XXIII College community! Join us on Saturday 5 September, 8:00am – 9:30am, as we care for our garden beds and help our native Carnaby's Black-Cockatoos thrive.

The morning will involve planting, weeding and general garden care. All tools are provided – just bring yourself, comfortable clothing, closed footwear, a hat and sunscreen.

πŸ“ Meeting point: behind the Science Garden at B8

Participating students can count this time towards their Christian Service-Learning (Roncalli Service) hours.

It is a simple, hands-on way to care for our shared environment and the campus grounds we all enjoy.

'Two households, both alike in dignity, in fair Verona, where we lay our scene.'

These opening lines set the scene for our Bell Shakespeare incursion, where professional actors performed SUCH SWEET SORROW, revisiting scenes and soliloquies from ROMEO AND JULIET.

The performance celebrated theatre making, storytelling and the power of imagination through an engaging contemporary lens. Students then joined the actors for a Q&A session, gaining insight into their craft.

Our GATE program gives students the opportunity to extend beyond the year level curriculum and engage with challenging, thought provoking content such as this.
