Our M Block students were so lucky today to work with the amazing Diane Wolfer as a part of the Children’s Book Council of Australia (WA)’s Book Week. We thank the Shire of Plantagenet and Mount Barker Library & Community Resource Centre for their support.

She was so generous with her time, suggestions and guidance - we have many, many fantastic budding authors in our College! So amazing to see this happening in real time!

These Year 9 students are learning about sheep production this term, with a focus on both prime lamb and wool production. As part of their learning about pasture management, they took advantage of today’s weather before the rain arrives tomorrow to conduct a pasture assessment.

Students completed transects across the paddock, estimating the amount of clover and ryegrass available. They will use their results to explore how Feed on Offer (FOO) relates to stocking levels and how farmers use pasture information to make decisions about rotational grazing.

The market garden is starting to deliver the goods! 🥦🌱 We’ve harvested our first broccoli, with plenty more to come, as well as cabbage, garlic and cauliflower.

Today, the Year 10s got stuck into some essential w**d management, while Ben kept busy on the lawnmower. It’s great to see all the hard work in the garden starting to pay off.

Great job, team! 🌱🚜

What a special time we had on the farm today! The Pre-primary students came down and buddied up with our Year 8s, who did a fantastic job showing them around and introducing them to some of our animal friends.

They loved checking for eggs, patting the lambs, meeting our three-week-old chicks and saying hello to the cattle. It was lovely to see the Year 8s sharing their knowledge and helping our younger students experience the farm.

Thanks for coming to visit us – we loved having you! 🐑🐥🐄🥚
