Congratulations to Graeme Colls for winning the 2nd round of the Interclub Championship in Mossman last weekend, despite some fierce competition from the Perry twins.
Unfortunately overnight rain forced the abandonment of Sunday's racing meaning what should have been a two day event was reduced to just the Saturday.
Graeme was the only driver to score points for the FNQ Club, 5 for the outright win and 1 for his class win leaving the local club to sweep the rest.
After the second round the championship points stand at DSMSA 24 points FNQMSC 16.
The 3rd round will be held in Herberton on 26/27 September.

Club meeting is this Wednesday night at 7 at the Bowls Club.

This Saturday morning (22nd) the Mossman Hardware have offered us a chance to run a sausage sizzle out the front of the store. They are supplying everything all we have to do is turn up and cook some snags.
It will be a great opportunity to get the Club's profile out there and earn some extra cash.
Set up is from 8 and we should be finished by 12.
Obviously we need members to turn up and run the stall. If you can help please let me know.

The Club's next event is a two day Khanacross and Junior Motorkhana next weekend 15/16 August. It is being Proudly sponsored by JDI Earthworks and Machinery.

As well as being a club round it is also the second round of the Interclub Championship against the FNQ Motorsport Club. As the points in this year's championship sit at 10 all, it will be a good chance for our club to gain some points at our home track and put the pressure on the Cairns Club leading into the third round in October.
Camping will be available at the track Friday and Saturday nights. Nominations are on the day and include Saturday dinner and Sunday brekkie. More details are on the website.

The following Saturday, Mossman Hardware have invited the club to run a sausage sizzle in front of the hardware from 8 until 12. This will be a great opportunity for the club to make some extra cash and to get our presence out there in the Shire. If anyone would like to put their hand up to help on the day please let me know.

The Club has purchased a shower block (to go with the toilets) and Simon Taylor from Taylors Tilt Tray and Towing has kindly brought it up from Cairns for us. This has all been made possible from a grant the Club received from the QLD Government Gambling Community Benefit Fund. Next project is to organise a slab to put them on and then the plumber!

Unfortunately I am no longer able to race so the MR2s are destined to find another custodian.

The black one is more or less stock and could be returned to road use with a bit of work.

The red one is a supercharged 1MZ 3lt V6. It has an E153 with Kaaz 1.5 L*D, aluminium flywheel and button clutch.
It comes with bitumen springs and near new mounted semi-slicks.

I have loved this car and spent way too much building it!

EOI invited.

10 points each! That was the score line after the first round of the Interclub Championship
Eleven members (nearly half the field) from 5 families travelled to Herberton last weekend to represent the DSMSA in the first round of the Interclub Championship against the FNQ Motor Sport Club.
And what a weekend it was despite the damp and cool conditions, the light rain putting moisture into the ground creating a grippy and fast track.
Simon Taylor drove magnificently all weekend to claim the outright win and first AWD. Bob Errey had one of his best results ever, finishing 4th outright and 1st RWD.
Jamie Rock was 3rd in the RWD class and first Junior. Cash Carter was 3rd in the Juniors.
Bridie Taylor and Aviva Brolese were 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Ladies class and Jamie Carter and Damien Darlington finished 3rd in their respective classes too.
Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to the FNQ Club for putting on a top event.
Bring on round two!

The Club's next event (and first for the year) is scheduled for this coming Sunday 21st June.
There are possible showers forecast for the coming days but hopefully there will not be much in them and we should be right to go.
With the unavailability of a grader, Heath Barry from JDI Earthworks and Machinery Hire is going to attack the track with a positrack on Saturday. While this is not ideal, knowing Heath he will have the track looking pretty good by Sat arvo and ready for racing come Sunday.
There will be a quick working bee from 1 on Saturday mainly to mow the pits and some basic set up. Anyone keen to help is more than welcome.
As this will be our first event for the year with lots of paperwork including club memberships, please be early so that we can get away on time. There will be someone there to do entries from 7.

Janet Goodall, who has been doing the trophies for the club for over 25 years has been in Townsville Hospital last week for some major surgery. We wish her well and speedy recovery.

The following weekend is the first round of the Interclub Championship against the old foe, the FNQ Motor Sports Club.
The first round is at the Tepon Speedway, via Herberton.
As the current CHAMPIONS! we need as many of our members there to help defend the Championship and retain the trophy.
Entry is via the Motorsport Australia portal, or manually with the forms which have been emailed out and emailed back to [email protected]
Entries close on Wednesday 24 June at 5pm. There will be no entering on the day.You will also need to bring your race license and club membership card
