Numbers are all around us in Year 1/2! Today we explored numbers through hands-on learning using number lines, place value materials, MAB blocks and partner activities. 🤝

Our Year 1 learners worked with numbers less than 120, while our Year 2 learners tackled numbers less than 1000. By modelling, discussing and explaining their thinking, students developed a deeper understanding of place value and number relationships. 🔢

Learning is always more fun when we can talk, build, explore and learn together! 🌟

The Preps finished off our school’s Fathers Day celebrations with a fun and relaxed Thursday arvo Learning Play session. They rotated through a range of hands on activities, including sand and water play, adding and matching dominos, practising their CVC words, and building creative structures with magnets.

Our Year 1/2 mathematicians are busy bringing their data investigations to life! 📈📝 After independently collecting data, students are creating graphs, documenting their learning on Seesaw 📸, and extending their thinking by designing digital bar graphs through Google Classroom. 💻

As we combine Mathematics and technology, we're fostering digitally literate young learners who can confidently collect, represent, analyse, and communicate data using a range of digital tools. 🌟📊💡

Once we've mastered bar graphs, we'll be challenging ourselves to explore pie graphs and plot graphs too! The world of data collection is fascinating, and we are buzzing with excitement to discover what our data can tell us. 🐝✨

We were so excited to continue working on our Data and Statistics assessment! 🎉📚 We absolutely love Maths in Year 1/2, especially when learning is hands-on and meaningful. 🧮💡

To be successful in this assessment, students will investigate a question by collecting categorical data, record and represent their findings using appropriate methods, and interpret the data they have gathered. 📋📈🔍

Throughout this unit, students have explored these concepts through investigations, discussions, and hands-on learning experiences. 🙌 By applying their knowledge in a real-world context, they are building confidence in their mathematical thinking and problem-solving skills. 🌟

We are so proud of the enthusiasm, curiosity, and determination our young mathematicians are showing as they work through this assessment! 👏😊
