Ben Crafoord and Jacob Marks finish 7th at 29er Worlds
After coming 16th in the UK Nationals prior to the World Championships Ben and Jacob secured a 7th place at the Weymouth Worlds, finishing outside the podium by just 6 points. This is an amazing result out of a 209-boat fleet - in last year’s Worlds in Barcelona, they came 106th and 109th sailing against each other. Ben and Jacob boys are both moving into 49ers (both steering) and will be sparring & training against each other to lift their skills. However, they will sail again together in various events, the next being the Australian championships in Perth in January.

Congratulations to Ben Crafoord and Jacob Marks who have topped the leaderboard after three days of qualification races at the 29er World Championships in Weymouth, England. The pair posted five first places out of the seven races sailed so far.
The 209-boat fleet has now been seeded into Gold, Silver, Bronze and Emerald fleets of about 50 boats each for the remaining three days of finals racing. Ben and Jacob will head the Gold fleet on the 8 points they carry forward from the qualification round but the competition will be intense until the championship concludes on Friday. Good luck for the rest of the regatta!

The NSW Youth Championships were held at Point Wolstoncroft on Lake Macquarie over the long weekend attracting 215 competitors and 170 entries racing across 11 dinghy and board classes. Tyler Dransfield (29er) and Marin Christodoulou-Le Gac (Optimist Intermediate) were on the podium and presented medallions, but another 11 MHYC members also performed well in their respective divisions.

MHYC’s Sailing Manager David Staley was Principal Race Officer for the Championship, leading a team of 80 officials and volunteers who delivered 101 races over the 3 days.
