The video you will see by the Shaolin Master is putting the idea of Karma in a very simple and practical way.
I would like to expand on it from the early Buddhist viewpoint and my own understanding and experience of the teachings.
In my language the word for Karma is Kamma.
It means action, activities, and causes.
Starts with the mind. Mental activity or though process or mind as a cause leads to
Effects such a verbal and physical or bodily activities.
With these actions we plant seeds.
These seeds carry energetic information of the nature of the action. The mental action done with dislike, annoyance, anger, or hatred leads to a toxic seed being planted in our local field of consciousness or our mind.
Kamma IS a "co-incidental process" in the sense that Kamma (cause) and the resulting Effect co-arise. This maybe difficult to comprehend with our ordinary mind which is slow in frequency because it's involved with our body or physical reality of existence.
At the extremely high frequency our minds function causes and effects at the deepest level do co-arise therefore co-incident.
However, at the relative reality we live and experience our selves and the world, we see causes arise after a period of time Effects appear. You plant a an apple seed and after a period of time apple plant will appear and subsequently apple fruit.
As you know apple seed will only create an apple tree and apple fruit. If you commit a negative, harmful action in anger, you will only receive equally negative results “instantly “ as and effect such as increased heart rate, blood pressure, release of stress hormones causing unpleasant and unhappiness in your mind and disharmony in the body.
How we are now is how we have “lived” in the past or how many positive and negative seeds we have planted.
How we will be in the future is how we live now as future is created now by our actions that are based on the past.
"Future is nothing more than another present moment"
