Well done to our P&C President, Nick Lonie, for courageously advocating for an upgrade to school facilities in this recent campaign post from David Honey - LNP Member for Cottesloe🙌
The P&C welcome all support for upgrades to the ageing Mosman Park Primary School and Mosman Park School for Deaf Children - a beautiful community-centred space that has a history of over 100 years.
We are extremely proud of our co-located Schools and will continue to support non-partisan commitment to infrastructure that underpins quality and inclusive public education for kids in Mosman Park, as well as deaf and hard of hearing kids throughout the Perth region.

2020 Canteen Roster 06/08/2020

Good morning Mossie Park Primary families.
The volunteer managed school canteen runs every Friday from 8:30-1:30/2:00pm. It doesn't do this by itself. It would be fantastic to have a magical Canteen Fairy to do everything needed (well, we sort of do with Canteen Coordinator Taylor Langley :)), but unfortunately there's no such thing.
So, putting the call out for volunteers for tomorrow (3 shifts need filling), and for upcoming Fridays.
There are a number of new systems in place to streamline how canteen runs, and it's working well.
If you've done a shift before we'd love to welcome you back, and if you haven't and are able to, then come along and you'll be lovingly shown what to do.
We appreciate people have commitments so no guilt here. Do what you can.
Sign up at the below link, and please don't hesitate to get in touch with me on 0438 850 398 or Taylor on 0420 581 234.

Canteen is back!

Second week open after the COVID shut-down.

Strictly no cash, sorry.

Please make orders through https://quickcliq.com.au/ before 0800 Friday mornings.

If you weren't aware, there's an option instead of putting funds into Quickcliq that may sit there until needed, is a one-off order fee for $0.21 using a credit card. If you need help to set up a Quickcliq account, please contact us at the P&C.

There are no over-the-counter sales at recess or lunch, so no cash needed at all.

The P&C is looking to gradually introduce recess and lunch extras for purchase by the kids (as we know they love it), and we are looking at options for what these will be, and at the same time, looking at maybe changing up the Bake-and-Donate system.

Best regards,

Hi MPPS families,

A reminder that tomorrow (Tuesday) is a pupil-free day at the school with first day back for students being Wednesday.

Here's the info Principal Alison Robb sent by email yesterday:

Returning to School – please remember to bring all of your books, texts and stationery with you on Wednesday.

Connect – to assist parents and students to familiarise with Connect we have provided the attached instruction video

https://vimeo.com/410946017/a7f13c807c

If you have any difficulties with accessing Connect or need assistance with your log in details, please let your class teacher know. This is a problem that can usually be easily rectified.

Please note that the first lessons on Connect will be available from Tuesday 28th April.

From this point lessons will be released so that you have access to the next two days. They will remain available for two weeks.

Health and Hygiene

Arrangements will be in place for Term 2 with regard to safety, to reduce direct contact, enhance personal hygiene practices, and significantly increase cleaning regimes across the school.

From the start of Term 2 we will have cleaners on-site throughout the school day to undertake continuous cleaning regimes. This will include cleaning and disinfecting high-contact surfaces that are frequently used by staff and/or students, cleaning of play equipment before school and after each break, routine emptying of bins and regular cleaning of toilet areas.

Students and staff will be reminded to follow the good hygiene practises established at the end of last term. These include:

* washing hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, or using hand sanitiser, when entering school, and at regular intervals throughout the day, particularly before and after eating, and after going to the toilet. Every classroom will have access to hand sanitiser and hand wash.

* covering coughs and sneezes with an elbow or a tissue and placing used tissues straight into the bin.

* not sharing food or drink and bringing your own water bottle for use.

Physical Distancing

The medical advice to the Department of Education is that schools are safe and classrooms are capable of being managed without the 1.5m rule in place. Nonetheless, there are a range of measures we will be taking to support physical distancing and to reduce the risk of transmission within the practical limitations of our school environment.

Classroom and Playground

We are seeking to manage classroom numbers and plan to allocate an additional Year 5/6 group to assist with this.

Nominated students from each of the current Yr 5/6 classes will be reallocated to a Library classroom of around 20 students and will be taught by Mrs Fleming. This will continue until at least the end of Week 3 and will allow for much greater physical distancing within the large Year 5/6 classes. Although this temporary change may initially concern some students we expect that the benefits to the whole group will be significant.

Staff will be moving the furniture within their classrooms to ensure as much space as possible between students. Mat sessions and group activities will be adapted.

Students will move in one direction along the school verandahs, ramps and stairs. Arrows have been placed to help. Markings have also been placed outside classrooms to help students when lining up.

If appropriate, teachers will modify lessons to take advantage of outdoor learning spaces.

Whole-school and large group activities will be cancelled until further notice. This includes assemblies, incursions and excursions as well as interschool sports.

Eating areas – designated areas have been allocated for year groups to sit and eat at recess and lunch. Duty staff will closely supervise students during eating and playtimes.

Students who are unwell.

Students and staff who are unwell are being asked to stay home and to remain away from others. If your child becomes unwell during the school day we will contact you and ask that you come to the Admin area to collect them.

Volunteers in the school

In accordance with guidelines regarding parents not entering school grounds, we will also not have any volunteers (including speech therapists) at school. As such, Homework Club and Canteen will not be running until further notice.

Pick Up and Drop Off Arrangements

You will be aware that the Department has stipulated that parents are not to enter the school grounds and must drop and pick-up students from designated areas. We have put much thought into these arrangements and can assure you that all of our students, particularly our younger ones, will be supported to make their way to and from classrooms as required. They may have some anxiety around the change and we would ask you to encourage them during the first week or so as they become used to their ‘new-found independence’.

In order to facilitate a smooth start and end to our school day we have implemented the following arrangements.

Students should arrive at school no earlier than 8.30am. Classes will commence at 8.50am. Students are to make their way to the classroom when they arrive at school.

School will end at 3.10pm for all year levels apart from Pre Primary. Pre Primary students will be taken to the Alf Adams entry/exit at 3pm. If parents have older children they can then meet them at one of the other pick-up spots if required.

Please make sure that your child knows where they are to meet you at the end of the day. Usually this is best managed by having them return to where they were dropped in the morning. Teachers and Admin will be on duty and supervising the end of day routine so don’t panic if there is a problem, one of us will be there to help.

Members of the Admin team, supported by Ed Assistants, will be available to welcome students and to direct them, or take them to classrooms from the following entrances.

A – Library Entry - general entrance for PP – 6 students (Admin – Alison Robb)
B – Alf Adams Entry - entrance for ONLY PP and Year 1 students (Admin – Emma Lipscombe)
C - Mann Oval Entry – general entrance for PP – 6 students (Admin – Pamela Chatfield)
D – Winifred Street Entry – Year 2 to 6 students (Admin – Rhonda Miller, Amanda Rankin)
E - Basketball Court Entry – Year 2 to 6 students (Admin – Amanda Fraser)

Kindy students will be dropped and collected from the Kindy gate and met by the Teacher or Ed Assistant.

To get your children back into the mood for returning to school the school has provided a short story-telling session for them. If they would like to enjoy their efforts, please follow the link below.

From the P&C, all the best for Term 2 in whatever form it will be taking for your family. If there's anything we can assist with, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
