The Beehive Montessori School

Another year, another successful and very well attended Family Fun Day & Crazy Hair Day, all rolled into one!

There was a buzz of excitement as children (and adults!) got to enjoy the different activities on offer throughout the afternoon. The bravest volunteers put their hand up to hold and interact with snakes and other reptiles under the watchful eye of Lisa from Perth Reptile Company, whilst others enjoyed having their faces beautifully painted by Fairy Sandie & Fairy Emma from The Pickled Fairy.

Our school bands and choir kept families entertained throughout the afternoon, whilst our Adolescent Program students were busy keeping everyone well-fed with a delicious sausage sizzle! Ben from Quokka Carts was also with us for the afternoon, with a range of yummy icy poles on offer which were certainly a crowd pleaser!

We also had a number of Beehive students running their own stalls, with assorted items for sale to support the Leukaemia Foundation. This included recent Beehive graduate Elliot Hadfield, selling his well-loved Big Dog screen-printed t-shirts.

Almost $3000 in total was raised for the Leukaemia Foundation during our Crazy Hair Day & Family Fun Day - thank you and well done to everyone that was involved!

Blood cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian children, with over 120 types of blood cancer in existence, including Lymphoma & Leukaemia.

Every dollar raised through the World's Greatest Shave helps provide those families affected with the support they need, while powering critical research projects that bring us closer to a future free of blood cancer.

We invite you to join us at an upcoming eSafety and Healthier Screen Use Parent Workshop with Anke Lasserre, on Monday May 11 (6:00 - 7:30pm).

Anke Lasserre is a highly regarded and experienced parenting coach and community educator, who offers practical, research-based workshops that strengthen school communities, support families and help students thrive in a digital world. She is the founder of FamilyFlow, and is a former Beehive parent.

Anke will share information, proven strategies and pragmatic tools that parents can use straight away to keep their child/ren safer online and to reduce friction around device use at home.

Topics covered will include:
- Key challenges around videos, online games and smartphones
- How much screentime and which apps are appropriate at which age
- Online dangers and how to avoid/navigate them
- How to manage screentime more peacefully and successfully

This workshop will combine the latest research with real-world strategies and practical advice. The handout will include a screentime contract, a checklist of warning signs of imbalanced screen use in children and recommended online resources for further information.

This workshop is aimed at parents of children up to 12 years old.

It was wonderful to have so many of our families spend their Friday afternoon with us, supporting Jaz, Bo, Victoria, Alby, Francesca & Zuma, who took part in the World's Greatest Shave for 2026.

It was fantastic to see our Beehive students coming through the gates this morning with their crazily styled hair, in support of the Leukaemia Foundation!

We also had our Adolescent Program students creating colourful masterpieces for those who wanted to add some colour to their hair for the day!
