Drum Solo Intensive with Virginia Masri & Master Percussionist Nasser Masri

Power. Precision. Presence.

Join Virginia alongside renowned master percussionist Nasser Masri for an immersive workshop exploring the dynamic relationship between live percussion and Egyptian dance.

More than simply learning choreography, this workshop is a journey into the language of the drum. Through a carefully crafted original drum solo, you’ll discover how rhythm shapes movement, emotion and performance. Each section introduces a traditional rhythm, exploring its character, energy and cultural essence while developing the technique and musical understanding needed to embody it authentically.

Rooted in the rich rhythmic traditions of Egypt, the composition also features exciting interjections of Iraqi and Khaleeji rhythms, offering dancers a broader appreciation of the Middle Eastern rhythmic landscape and the unique flavour each tradition brings to the music and movement.

Technique, musicality and rhythm studies are seamlessly woven together, culminating in a powerful performance piece that celebrates the strength, confidence and unmistakable presence of Oriental dance. Expect sharp accents, expressive layering, commanding stage presence and the exhilaration of dancing in conversation with live percussion.

Whether you’re looking to deepen your musicality, expand your rhythmic vocabulary or experience the thrill of dancing to a tapestry of Middle Eastern rhythms, this workshop will leave you with a richer understanding of dance from the inside out.

Join us for Dance for Dudes – a spectacular 5-hour evening of entertainment on Saturday 20 June (6:00pm–11:00pm), featuring professional dancers, dance troupes, a live singer, live drumming, DJ music, and food included with your ticket.

Most importantly, this event supports a vital cause: men's mental health. All proceeds will be donated to MensLine Australia, a free, confidential 24/7 counselling service that supports men experiencing mental health, relationship, wellbeing, stress, anxiety, addiction, and family challenges. MensLine also provides guidance for families, friends, and health professionals supporting men in need.

Tickets for this incredible evening are just $60 per person. There will also be an auction on the night, with a range of exciting items available.

Sunday 1hr workshop for a group of ladies who monthly “try something new” together. We started with a warm up, going over moves, linking together the moves to form combinations, linking the combinations & voi la! They could dance the whole song. Then we added the lovely feminine veil which gave the dance a whole new feel & look. They left smiling & self satisfied. Great way to start a beautiful sunny Sunday 🥰😍💃🏻 #
