🐠 Exploring Our Oceans Through Play and Discovery 🐠🌊

This week, our Little Grasshoppers have been busy learning all about the ocean as part of World Ocean Day. Through hands on, play based experiences, children have explored marine life, ocean habitats, conservation and the important role our oceans play in our everyday lives.

📅 Plan Ahead for the Sessional Kinder Holidays (winter break) from Friday 26 June - 13 July 2026.

If your child attends a community sessional kindergarten and you require additional care during these weeks, we encourage you to let us know now.
Where availability exists, our team will do everything we can to accommodate additional days.
Planning ahead helps us support as many families as possible and avoid disappointment.
One of the many benefits of Little Grasshoppers is that we remain open all year round and do not close during school holidays. This provides children with continuity, consistency and ongoing opportunities for learning, development and social connection.

World Ocean Day - Monday 8 June

Living on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, the ocean is much more than a backdrop. It is an important part of our community, our environment and our everyday lives.

From our stunning beaches and coastlines to the incredible marine wildlife that calls our local waters home, the ocean plays a vital role in shaping the place we live and the experiences our children enjoy.

Our Little Grasshoppers are learning about the importance of protecting our oceans, caring for marine life and understanding how our actions can help keep our beaches and waterways healthy for future generations

🌧️❄️ Winter has certainly arrived here on the Mornington Peninsula!

The cooler weather may have rolled in this week, but it hasn't stopped the fun, learning and laughter at Little Grasshoppers.

This week our children and educators have embraced everything winter has to offer. From creative art and craft activities to cooking, storytelling, building, exploring nature and caring for our gardens, every day continues to be filled with discovery and adventure.
And when the rain stops, our little grasshoppers are straight back outside! You'll often find children pulling on their winter clothing and get to work playing, splashing through puddles, running across the playground, exploring the fresh air and making the most of the outdoors.
We can't wait to share more of the wonderful learning experiences taking place across our centres this winter.

We have been buzzing with Learning at Parwan 🐝

This week at Little Grasshoppers Parwan, our children have been exploring the fascinating world of bees and learning about the important role they play in our environment.

Through hands-on experiences, discussions and creative activities, the children discovered how bees help pollinate flowers, plants and many of the foodswe eat. They also learned about the different parts of a bee, how bees work together in a hive and why it is important to protect these incredible pollinators.

Learning about bees encourages curiosity about the natural world while helping children develop an appreciation for the environment and the living things around them.

We have enjoyed watching the children's excitement as they investigated, asked questions and shared their discoveries with their friends.

As the weather cools down, our kitchen is warming up with a delicious new Winter Menu designed to nourish growing bodies and curious minds.

From Irish Stew with Soda Bread and Beef Stroganoff to Tuna & Corn Patties, Chicken Quesadillas and homemade Polenta Muffins, our seasonal menu is packed with hearty meals, fresh ingredients and comforting flavours children genuinely enjoy.

Each Little Grasshoppers centre features a dedicated dining space where children and educators come together to share meals, build confidence around food and explore new flavours in a calm and social environment.

Research shows children are more likely to try new foods when eating alongside their peers, so don’t be surprised if your child comes home talking about their new favourite meal being Tuna & Corn Patties or Chicken Quesadillas with avocado mousse.

Our dedicated onsite cooks prepare fresh meals daily, with thoughtful alternatives available for allergies and dietary requirements.
