Some stories don't just belong to us.
They belong to the generations before us and the generations to come.
🎈It's time to celebrate
One year ago, I shared one of those stories with the world and HUSH was born.
It began with two simple, aching questions:
Who am I?
And
Why am I childless?
In writing HUSH, I discovered how Attachment, the emotional bond formed with our mothers, even before we are born, shapes everything: how we relate, how we love, and how we value ourselves in relation to work, money, health and relationships.

It creates the first blueprint of our identity.

This journey has shown me that when we understand the stories of where we come from, we can begin to answer one of life's biggest questions:
Who am I? Really?

As Mother’s Day approaches on May 11th, I can’t help but feel that HUSH is not just my story. It’s a mirror, a bridge, a way for others to explore their own beginnings with tenderness and curiosity.

I’m curious about Belongingness.
➡️ What is it?
Google says Belonging has long been recognised as a fundamental human motivation characterised by the need for emotional attachment, interpersonal connection, and feelings of safety.

Whether it is family, friends, co-workers, a religion, or something else, some people tend to have an 'inherent' desire to belong and be an important part of something greater than themselves.

➡️ Are you one of “some people”?
I am.
An unexpected bonus since the publication of HUSH has been an expanded sense of belonging.

And in the most surprising places.
Like last Sunday ……
Belonging was the theme for Melbourne Jewish Book Week.

To be a guest on the panel discussing: Shaping Identity Writing the Soul: Memoir, was a first I would never have expected. How our sense of self forms, and how much of our identity is shaped by our genes, by the imprint of our forebears and by our own life experience?

I belonged on that stage.
My Belonging comes from the intersection of our parents and ancestors’ stories. In that room was a shared legacy.

In the words of peace activist, known as the father of mindfulness, Tich Nhat Hanh, A Lifetime of Peace ……

‘If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people.’

Had to restock and very happy to see HUSH popping out of the shelves . Interesting that it frames Unspoken! Hush is a book about the intersection of history, culture, beliefs and genetics to reveal where identity begins. It reveals how our family history silently influences our choices by stealth and life doesn’t turn out as expected.
