- MPS Debating Team Triumphs -

MPS enjoyed an exciting challenge against Tacking Point Public School. With the toss of a coin, Tacking Point opened as the affirmative team arguing, That students should have half an hour of fitness before class every morning.

Moree speakers were able to rebut each point put forward AND convince the adjudicator students needed every minute in class for academic subjects; fitness exercises could actually be dangerous to participants through sprains, aches and heat stroke; and daily exercise would not lead to a future career for most people.

Following the protocols of formal debating, Moree students Enya, Ellie, Josephine and Lucinda are to be congratulated for their enthusiasm and confidence, especially since they all really love fitness at school and had been hoping to be the affirmative!
Great debating, everyone!

Thank you to Lachlan who kept things moving in his role of Chairperson.

We all look forward to Round 4 in the near future

- 3P-23 Takes Us Under the Sea -

3P-23 took us on an incredible underwater journey at today’s assembly! Students guided us down through the different zones of the ocean, diving deeper and deeper as the lights gradually dimmed, all the way to the deepest depths of our oceans.

It was a fantastic way to showcase their learning, with students confidently sharing their knowledge about the mysterious world beneath the waves.

We also celebrated a staggering number of student achievements, with plenty of awards handed out across the school. Congratulations to all of our award recipients and to 3P-23 for a fantastic assembly!

- Jump Rope for Heart is underway at MPS -

Moree Public School is excited to be participating in Jump Rope for Heart this term, a fantastic Heart Foundation program that gets students active while raising funds for lifesaving heart research and support programs.

And what an incredible start! In just 4 days, our MPS community has already raised $3,835, with 63 students signed up and still 5 weeks to go!

Over the coming weeks, students will practise their skipping skills, increase their physical activity and learn more about keeping their hearts healthy. We’ll finish the program with a whole-school Jump Off Day, where students can show off their new skipping skills.

There’s still plenty of time to get involved! Families can register their child online to raise funds, track skipping progress, earn virtual badges and access extra skipping resources.

Register here: jumprope.org.au/parents

What an amazing start, MPS! We can’t wait to see how much we can achieve together over the next five weeks.

- Heferen Shield Athletics Carnival -

What an incredible day for MPS at the Heferen Shield District Athletics Carnival on Friday 7 August!

Our students gave it their all, competing with determination, encouraging their teammates and representing MPS with pride throughout the day. We are incredibly proud of every student who stepped onto the track or into the field events and had a go.

A special congratulations to our Age Champions, Chayse, Isabella, Isobel, Jake, Zac and Marley. Another congratulations to the Age Runners-Up, Austin, Makenna, Josh, Evie and Xavier. An outstanding achievement!

The incredible results continued on the track, with six carnival records broken by MPS athletes. Isabella smashed both the Junior Girls 800m and 1500m records, while Austin, Will, Marley and Lachlan each set new 1500m records in their divisions.

Congratulations to our entire MPS team on a fantastic carnival. Your effort, sportsmanship and support for one another made our school extremely proud!

- MPS Book Week Parade -

It’s time to start planning those costumes because our Book Week Parade is next week!

On Wednesday 26 August, our whole school will come together to celebrate the wonderful world of books, stories and characters.

The parade will begin at 11:30am under the Infants COLA, and we warmly invite families, friends and members of our community to come along and enjoy the fun.

Students are encouraged to dress as a favourite character from a book, with a prizes for the most creative costume in each year.

We can’t wait to see which characters arrive at MPS this Book Week!

- Healthy Harold Visits MPS -

Australia’s favourite giraffe, Healthy Harold, has wrapped up a fantastic visit to MPS!

Every student had the opportunity to step inside the legendary Life Ed van, take part in an engaging lesson and, of course, meet Healthy Harold. Across the school, students explored important topics including cyber safety, positive relationships, making healthy choices and the dangers of smoking and va**ng.

A big thank you to Kira for leading the sessions and making each lesson engaging and meaningful for our students.

We are also incredibly grateful to our wonderful Moree Public School P & C for supporting this visit and ensuring every student could take part. Their generosity provided a valuable learning experience for our whole school.

- MPS Shines at NSW PSSA Cross Country -

At the end of July, eight outstanding MPS students travelled to Sydney to compete at the NSW PSSA Cross Country Championships after earning selection in the North West team.

For a rural country school, our students achieved some incredible results on the state stage. We are especially proud of Bella and Marley, who were both crowned NSW State Champions and will now represent NSW at the National Cross Country Championships. What an amazing achievement!

A huge congratulations also goes to Austin, Liam, Tom, Will, Jake and Evie, who each did an outstanding job competing against some of the best young runners from across NSW.

Having eight MPS students qualify for the North West team and compete at State is an achievement in itself. We are incredibly proud of the determination, effort and sportsmanship shown by every one of our runners.

Congratulations Bella, Marley, Austin, Liam, Tom, Will, Jake and Evie. You represented MPS and the North West with pride!

- KJ-10 Assembly Uncovers a Mystery -

There was a mystery to solve at Moree Public School, and the detectives of KJ-10 were on the case!

At our recent Kindergarten assembly, KJ-10 investigated the mysterious holes appearing around the school grounds. Students confidently shared their clues and reasoning, explaining why different animals could not have been responsible.

The investigation eventually revealed a surprising culprit... KJ-10 themselves! As part of preparations for our upcoming Kitchen Garden Program, students have been busy digging holes, planting seeds and watering the garden beds ready for the program to officially begin later this term.

The assembly was also a wonderful opportunity to celebrate student achievements. Congratulations to our students who received their 80 Nights of Home Reading awards and to Summer, our K-2 Owlbert recipient for this fortnight.

Well done to KL-8 for receiving the Good Manners Award and KR-11 for being recognised for their fantastic skills and work habits in the Library.

Congratulations to KJ-10 on a creative and entertaining assembly, and to all of our students recognised for their achievements!
