🔥🚜 Students are getting stuck into farm skills training, with a focus on fire training last week!

Under the watchful eye of our Morawa DFES volunteers, students are building their skills, confidence and knowledge when it comes to fire safety and emergency response. 👨‍🚒🧯

Real skills, practical learning and plenty of hands-on experience! 💪🌾

💗💕 A Special Recognition for Grace Hollowell 💕💗

We were proud to recognise Year 12 student Grace Hollowell with a certificate of appreciation for her kindness, care, and the time she dedicated to helping create Emily's Memorial Box. 💗

The certificate acknowledged Grace's thoughtful contribution:

"In recognition and appreciation of your kindness, care and time helping create Emily's Memorial Box. Thank you for helping us honour Emily's memory and for putting so much thought and love into something so special. Your kindness and support will always be appreciated." 💞

The certificate was presented by Acting Principal, Mr Paul Bottcher, on behalf of Ms Jessica Young, one of our Residential Supervisors.

💗 Earlier this year, our school community experienced the tragic loss of Emily and her brother Kaleb, who had previously attended the college. The memorial box was created to honour Emily's memory and celebrate the many wonderful qualities that made her so special to our college community. 💗🕊️💕

💗 The memorial box is currently displayed in the Students' Dining Room, where students, staff, and visitors can take a moment to reflect, remember, and celebrate the many qualities that made Emily such a special and valued member of our college community. 💗🕊️💕

Thank you, Grace, for the kindness and love you shared during such a difficult time. Your care and support will always be remembered and deeply appreciated. 💗💕🕊️💐🤍

🌟 Congratulations to our fortnightly certificate winners! 🌟

A huge congratulations to all of our students who received certificates this fortnight! 👏😊 These awards recognised students who demonstrated our PBS expectation of Safety by making positive choices and helping to create a safe and respectful learning environment. 💙

👏 A very special mention goes to our entire Year 10 class, who were awarded a certificate by Ms Mitchell for their outstanding behaviour during a recent science experiment.

🧪 Ms Mitchell shared:

"The whole class impressed me during the experiment. They handled the glassware carefully, followed instructions, and cleaned up after themselves. It was great to see everyone working responsibly and safely. Well done!"

🏆 The certificate was proudly accepted on behalf of the class by Year 10 Councillor, Nate Butcher.

🐑🏆 A little bit of shearing, a lot of teamwork and plenty of laughs! 😂

The Perenjori Show put our four-person Team MOWAG to the ultimate fun challenge! Michael Price took on the shearing, Abigail cranked the hand-operated gear, Kayla knocked back a large fizzy drink, and Jamison demolished a frozen pie before rolling a bale of wool across the finish line! 🐑🥤🥧💪

The fastest team took the honours, but the real win was the fun, teamwork and plenty of laughs along the way! 🙌😂

A big thank you to Ms Williams for capturing the action and fun with her fantastic photos! 📸👏

🐴🧠 A fantastic learning opportunity for our students and horses!

We were lucky enough to secure Jai Rowe from Complete Equine Bit Fitting Solutions to professionally assess and fit both our College and personal horses. 🐎

Students first explored the concepts using a horse skull and sock tongue to better understand where the teeth and bars are located, and how different mouthpieces apply different pressure to the bars and tongue. We also learned about cheek pieces, nosebands and why the old rules of “two wrinkles” and “two fingers” are no longer considered best practice for fitting. 👀

Jai assessed the bits currently being used and their fit, before students had the opportunity to ride in a variety of bits and feel the different responses from their horses. After all, the horses are pretty good at telling us what they like... and what they definitely don’t! 😄🐴

Each horse now has a bit on order, and we are excited to take this extra step towards making these patient four-legged teachers even more comfortable during their rides. 💛

A special bonus for Ms Greenwood, who has just started her own bit fitting accreditation training and was thrilled to have the opportunity to pick Jai’s brain and learn from such an experienced fitter. 📚🐎
