BOOK EXCHANGE

The English Department is launching a Book Exchange on Friday 28th of August, alongside Book Week! Bring in a novel that you no longer read and swap it out for something different! Your favourite book could become someone else's favourite too!

More exchanges are to come so keep an eye out for the next one!

MOCK INTERVIEWS

In Week 9, our Year 10 students will be putting their interview skills into action as they take part in Mock Interviews.

Thursday 10 September – Periods 3 & 4
Friday 11 September – Period 4

Interview times will be emailed to students prior to the interviews, so students are encouraged to keep an eye on their emails for their allocated time.

This is a fantastic opportunity for students to practise answering interview questions, presenting themselves professionally and building confidence for future employment opportunities.

QCIA NEWS

Our QCIA students have been working our sustainability project in the DLC area. They’ve created a beautiful garden with a built-in worm farm where they are going to collaborate with the hospitality team and compost their food scraps.

They then used a raised garden bed with WaterUps wicking cells. These are modular, self-watering units designed to create water-efficient garden beds that deliver moisture directly to plant roots.

Finally, they made a fabulous scarecrow, taking inspiration from our amazing past teacher Ms Prue Jordan. She has beautiful pink hair and lots of bling! We love her and she’ll be looking over our space for us.

Peabody was pleased to join more than 600 students at the Moranbah Education & Careers Pathways Expo at Moranbah State High School recently. With two of our operations located in the Bowen Basin, the event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with local students and showcase the wide range of career pathways available across our business, including entry level roles through our vacation student and graduate programs and apprenticeships and traineeships.

BOOK WEEK | SAVE THE DATE

Year 7, 8 and 9 students will be participating in Book Week Activities on Friday, 28th August. This is an enriching learning opportunity for students, that can positively contribute to their teaching and learning in English and The Arts. The 2026 Book Week Theme is Symphony of Stories. We encourage ALL students to dress in line with this year's theme or alternatively an appropriate book character of their choice.
