Lunchtime Clubs at Moorooduc - Where Every Child Belongs πŸ’›

Our incredible Lunchtime Clubs provide students with opportunities to explore their interests, build friendships, develop new skills and simply have fun.

What makes our clubs so special? They are constantly evolving and changing based on student voice, interests and needs. If our students are passionate about it, we’ll do our best to make it happen!

And the best part? Participation is completely optional. Our clubs are there for students who would like to join in, but we also know the value of free play, outdoor exploration, and simply spending time with friends.

Moorooduc - More than just a school. πŸ’™

Our Outdoor Learning program is one of the many amazing programs we offer that set us apart from the rest! 🌱🐝🌿

Students from Prep to Year 6 participate in Outdoor Learning sessions with a specialist teacher, where they develop practical skills, deepen their understanding of the natural world, and enjoy hands-on learning in the great outdoors.

Throughout the year, students explore a wide range of topics including:
🌻 Planting, growing, and caring for plants
🐝 Bees, pollinators, and biodiversity
πŸ¦‹ The role of butterflies and insects in the garden ecosystem
πŸ₯• Seasonal vegetable gardening, harvesting, and cooking
♻️ Composting, recycling, and waste reduction
🌏 Sustainability and environmental stewardship
πŸ” Chickens and worms as important garden helpers
🌱 Understanding soil science and plant nutrients
πŸ’§ Healthy waterways and aquatic ecosystems
🐸 The role of frogs, fish, turtles, and yabbies in the environment
🌿 Native vegetation and the impact of invasive species
❀️ Cultural and Indigenous connections to Country and sustainable land management

These experiences provide authentic, real-world learning opportunities that help students develop responsibility, curiosity, environmental awareness, and a connection to nature.

And that’s just the beginning!! There is so much more to discover in Outdoor Learning! How lucky are we to have such an incredible program right here at Moorooduc Primary School? 😊🌱

Our Leadership Mentoring Program empowers students to grow into confident, capable, and inspiring young leaders. ✨

Each week, our student leaders work alongside one of our experienced teachers in dedicated mentoring sessions designed to build leadership skills, teamwork, communication, and responsibility.

Students take ownership of key areas within the school by planning assemblies, preparing speeches, organising performances, and leading initiatives such as PMP, recycling, lost property, sports equipment, and more. They also play an active role in shaping our school community by following up on SRC improvement ideas and contributing their own.

A key part of the program is exploring leadership values including integrity, confidence, and responsibility, helping students develop the skills and mindset needed to lead with purpose both now and into the future.

It is incredible to watch our leaders grow in confidence, develop their voice, and truly shine as role models within our school community. ✨

Our brains have been BUSY in our Year 3/4 Maths Labs sessions this term as part of our Learning Studio enrichment program! 🧠

The Learning Studio provides opportunities for students who are ready to stretch their thinking, tackle challenges and dive deeper into rich learning experiences. In Maths Labs, students explore investigations, games, problem solving and real world maths tasks designed to push their thinking beyond the classroom curriculum.
Β
Our current challenge: Can every number be made using square numbers? Inspired by the mathematician Diophantus, students have been exploring patterns, testing theories and stretching their mathematical thinking in exciting ways.

At Moorooduc, we meet every child exactly where they are and help them shine ✨. We are so much more than just a school.
