A fantastic day working with a committed group of girls who were eager to learn, challenge themselves and improve their game.

Throughout each session, every player took notes on the key coaching messages, helping reinforce their learning and giving them clear focus areas to continue working on after the clinic.

The day centred on building strong fundamentals, developing game awareness and creating skills that transfer into match day, while also building confidence and a genuine love for the game.

Our new BD Active Kids multi-sport school holiday program for 6–10 year olds was all about movement, learning new ball skills and having fun.

From kicking, throwing and catching to teamwork and coordination, every activity helps build the athletic foundations that benefit children in every sport.

The more movement, ball skills and hand-eye coordination kids develop, the more confidence they’ll have as they discover the sports they love.

For many of our BD Active Kids, the next step is joining our Big Dogg Cricket programs, where those same athletic skills transfer into batting, bowling, fielding and game awareness.

Whether it’s cricket, football, basketball or soccer, every great athlete starts with strong fundamentals.

The coaches, Steve & Patto had just as much fun as the kids!

Day 1 of our 10–14 Year Old School Holiday Cricket Clinic was all about building skills and confidence.

Led by Prahran 1st XI captain Matt Wilcox, experienced coach Simon McKean, and former Test cricketer Bobby Quiney, the players were challenged, encouraged, and exposed to a wealth of cricket knowledge throughout the day.

A fantastic group of young cricketers who embraced every session. We can’t wait to do it all again on Day 2! 🏏

Week 5 of the Big Dogg Intensive Program was all about putting our skills under pressure and applying them in match-like scenarios.
After spending the previous weeks developing our game against both spin and pace bowling, it was time to test those skills in realistic situations. Players were challenged to make decisions, adapt to different bowlers, manage risk, rotate strike, and build innings just as they would in a game.
A great session with plenty of competition, learning, and problem-solving as the group continues to prepare for the season ahead.

Week 3 of the Intensive Program saw the players take on one of the game’s biggest challenges… batting against spin.
The session focused on:
🏏 Reading the spinner’s cues
🏏 Footwork & movement to get into strong positions
🏏 Playing spin with intent, defending, rotating strike & scoring options
🏏 Building confidence against spin in match scenarios

Week 2 of the BD Intensive Program

This week was all about the back foot game 🏏

Playing shorter bowling with confidence
Pull shots & cut shots
Turning defence into scoring opportunities

Led by Bobby Quiney, Steve McConchie & Lachie Carroll, the session was packed with high reps, technical coaching and game-based scenarios to help players develop the skills needed for representative cricket.

More energy from the group this week, plenty of learning and improvement already after just 2 weeks.

This week we kicked off our 6 Week Intensive Program with players aspiring to play or already competing in representative cricket.

Led by Bobby Quiney and Steve McConchie, Week 1 focused on front foot batting, playing straight, and learning how to turn strong defence into scoring opportunities with soft hands and intent.

Players have travelled from all across Melbourne to be part of the program, and we’re excited to watch the group develop over the next 6 weeks.
