Gosh, it's nearly the end of the year! Hopefully you're all enjoying the wind-down of the academic component of the year, as we gear up for the holiday season and everything that comes with it.
If you're starting to think about your future study plans, now is the time to secure lessons with tutors, before their availability for 2023 fills up. My schedule is currently full for the school terms in 2023, but January holiday lessons are still available, so please get in touch. From February, I will be based in Montmorency, though Zoom lessons will forever be available.
Jessica Joan Graham Private Tutoring
Experienced and passionate tutor of English, Literature and Drama in Melbourne.
Good morning students,
My name is Jessica Joan Graham and I am a passionate and experienced teacher of Language & Performing Arts. My adoration of all things literary, linguistic and theatrical means that I'm a lifelong student, patron, teacher and creator of the arts. My goal in life is to share my passions and inspire students through helping them discover their own abilities and appreciation of English, Literature and Drama.
It’s the last day of the Spring holidays, which often means our thoughts are turning to the end-of-year assessment season, and how we can best use our time to support future success and satisfaction in school.
Although my tutoring schedule is likely full for 2023 and the waiting list for 2024 is filling up, I do have some former students who are now experienced tutors, and can help you build great foundations in both primary and secondary school.
Paige Joustra studied VCE Drama and Literature with me in 2015, and is now a professional writer, actress and tutor. She offers in-home tutorials in Essendon and online, and specialises in primary literacy skills, as well as Speech & Drama. She has some current availability for new students, and you can get in touch via her profile on TutorFinder: https://www.tutorfinder.com.au/tutors/detail.php?TutorID=113385
Amy Tu studied English and VCE English Language with me from 2018-2021, and is now on her way to becoming a medical professional after earning exceptional results in all of her subjects. She specialises in tutoring English Language in Burwood. She had a waiting list open for 2023, so please get in touch with me if you would like her contact details.

Yes, learning is somewhat disrupted right now - and that's ok. Have a look at how academic performance has (not) been impacted by crisis in the past:
After the Christchurch quake, students missed a whole term. Their results are a good lesson for Australia What has happened to students who have missed months of school because of natural disasters or laps around Australia?

We know that there’s a lot of confusion and misinformation with the COVID-19 disruptions to your school year. To 2020 Victorian Year 12s, your families and loved ones, here is our commitment to you:
• We will help you reach your goals for tertiary study.
• We will keep you updated on any changes to our policies, dates and procedures for the year.
• We will provide resources that will help you get the best out of your VTAC application.
• We will continue to guide your schools, Principals and teachers in giving you the best advice.
• We will calculate your ATAR so you can be fairly considered for course entry.
• We will keep you abreast of other pathways into further study – it’s not always about your ATAR!
What we ask of you:
• Keep moving towards your goals.
• If your studies have been disrupted – and we know that’s most of you – apply for SEAS, our special consideration scheme, when applications open in August. It’s a program designed to compensate for educational disadvantage - applying will help you get into a course you want.
• If you’re unsure about your options for further study next year, don’t hesitate to contact us, your school careers advisor, or the universities, TAFEs and tertiary institutions that interest you.
• Stay in contact with your family, friends and loved ones.
• Keep in mind that there are other pathways into further study, that ATAR is just one method of entry.
• Remember to reach out for support if you need it. Whether it’s from your school, friends or loved ones, or even from excellent organisations like headspace, Kids Helpline Official or Beyond Blue. There are people who care and want to help you.
We’re in this together. We’ll continue to update you via social media and also our COVID-19 page: http://vtac.edu.au/update-covid-19.html

I'm so proud of all my Year 12s this year, having faced the challenges of their final year of secondary school. With tomorrow's English Language Exam marking the finale for my seniors this year, it’s a great time to reflect on how far all of you have come and how each step of learning along the way played a role in getting you to your current skill level.
It's never too early to hone those skills so you can ride your way through the later years of school with ease, secure in the knowledge that your foundational skills can be relied upon.
We're at the end of the VCE English & Performing Arts exam season, with English Language taking its final bow tomorrow afternoon. This means that tutorial times are now available for new students as my senior jet away into graduation!
As updated regularly on http://www.tutorfinder.com.au/tutor/jessicagraham.php, my current availability includes:
Mondays between 3:30pm-7:30pm
Tuesdays at 4:45pm
If you would like to join the waiting list for other timeslots, or would like to be contacted when one-off lesson times arise each week, please email me.
Lessons are also available during the school day. I encourage daytime lessons for senior students with free periods.
I hope everyone's exams have gone or are going well and that you are all proud of your efforts!

Attention Year 12s:
We're just a few days away from VCE Oral and Performing Arts Exams, and four short weeks from the beginning of Written Exam season, but don't stress! If you are thoroughly prepared, exams are opportunities to show off your efforts and be rewarded with access down streamlined tertiary pathways.
Although my weeknights are all-but-fully booked, please do get in touch if you need some help with your Exam preparation - sooner is better than later. Daytime tutorials are still available, and will fill up when SWOTVAC rolls around.
All the best for your last weeks of secondary school!

In the meantime, English Language kids in particular might like to read this article, and think carefully able how language can demonstrate not only sexist attitudes, but also other forms of discrimination...
