This week, our Foundation students are learning all about capacity in Maths. After reviewing what they already knew and working through the lesson together, the Preps headed out to the sandpit to explore capacity in a hands-on way.

Students compared a range of containers, estimating which would hold more or less before testing their predictions using sand. There was lots of filling, pouring, comparing and great mathematical thinking along the way! 🤩

This week, Monty South is joining schools across Australia for Bullying No Way Week, Australia’s national week of action for bullying prevention.

The 2026 theme is ‘Small Acts, Big Impact’, reminding us that small actions such as including someone, speaking up and showing kindness can make a meaningful difference.

Throughout the week, our students will take part in classroom discussions and activities focused on developing a shared understanding of what bullying is, how it differs from one-off unkind or mean behaviour, and what we can do if we experience or witness bullying.

At MSPS, our CIRCLE values of Compassion, Inclusion and Respect help guide the way we treat one another every day. Together, we can continue to build a school community where everyone feels safe, valued and that they belong. 💙

Small acts can have a BIG impact!

Today our Foundation students welcomed their grandparents and special people into their classrooms for a very special morning together! ✨

In the lead-up to today, students completed some important ‘homework’, interviewing their grandparent or special person to learn more about their lives and what things were like when they were younger. This morning, they proudly shared their interviews in small groups before spending time showing off their school work, playing games, creating a craft together and painting their handprints as a special keepsake.

It was so lovely to see our Foundation students sharing their classrooms, learning and school lives with some very special people.

A huge thank you to all of the grandparents, special people and families who joined us today, and for the ongoing support you give our students and our school. We hope you enjoyed the morning as much as we did! 🥰

Bringing history to life in Year 6!

This term, our Year 6 students have been exploring the events that led to the Eureka Stockade on 3 December 1854.

Working collaboratively, students investigated significant events from this period before stepping into the shoes of people from the past to re-enact their chosen event and create a still-frame scene.

It’s been fantastic to see students combine their historical knowledge with creativity and teamwork, bringing their learning beyond the classroom and into action! ✨

The countdown is on… Book Week is almost here! 📖✨

We’re so excited for our whole school Book Week Parade on Wednesday 26th August, celebrating this year’s theme, ‘A Symphony of Stories’.

We can’t wait to see our school come alive with incredible costumes as students and staff transform into their favourite book characters. Whether you’re sewing, crafting, borrowing or creating something completely unique, we hope you’re having fun getting your costume ready!

It’s sure to be a wonderful celebration of imagination, creativity and the stories that bring us all together. We can’t wait to see everyone at the parade!

Today we celebrated two very special occasions at MSPS! 💙🦸

It was Principal’s Day, and we also held our Superhero Dress Up Day to raise funds for Muscular Dystrophy Australia.

From classic superheroes like Spider-Man to real-life heroes such as mums, teachers and other everyday role models, it was wonderful to see the creativity and enthusiasm from both our students and staff.

At recess, some of our talented Dance Club students also treated Mrs Jeffers and Mr Beever to a special performance to celebrate Principal’s Day. Thank you to our dancers for helping make the day even more memorable!

A huge thank you to our incredible leadership team, Mrs Jeffers and Mr Beever, for everything they do to make our school such a supportive and inspiring place to learn. We’re so grateful for your leadership and dedication.

Thank you to everyone who dressed up, donated and helped make today such a fun and meaningful day! 💙

This week, our Year 3–6 students made a splash as they began their annual swimming program! 🏊💦

Swimming and water safety are an essential part of the curriculum, helping students build the confidence and skills they need to stay safe around water.

Our Year 3 and 4 students are learning the foundational water safety skills that will prepare them for the Victorian Water Safety Certificate in the coming years. Meanwhile, our Year 5 and 6 students are working towards completing the certificate, developing their swimming ability, rescue skills and water safety knowledge.

It has been fantastic to see students challenging themselves, encouraging their peers and growing in confidence in the water. We can’t wait for another great week of swimming for our Yrs 3-6 next week!
