Our happy campers have returned from their journey back to the 1800s and the Victorian Gold Rush! ⛏️✨
The Year 6 students and staff fully embraced the experience, dressing in period costumes and stepping into life on the goldfields. From panning for gold and exploring the mines to experiencing what daily life was like during the Gold Rush, it was a memorable adventure for everyone involved.
After a busy few days of learning, exploring and making memories, we think there will be plenty of tired campers sleeping well tonight!
We can’t wait to hear all about their favourite moments and discoveries when they return to school next week. 🤠🏕️💛

As part of our STEM learning, our Prep students took a deep dive into learning about wombats and their habitats this week.
After exploring how wombats live underground in burrows, students created their own paper burrows to make a home for their wombats. They even gave their wombats names and proudly shared them with their classmates!
It was wonderful to see students using their creativity while building their understanding of animal habitats. 🌱

Monty South would like to extend a very special thank you to Evelyn Marchioro’s amazing Nan, Sue, for her incredible generosity and kindness. Sue has lovingly cut and sewn thirty beautiful new aprons for our students to wear in our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen.
We are incredibly grateful for the enormous amount of time, care, and materials Sue freely gave to make this possible. Her generosity and community spirit are truly appreciated.
We would also like to thank Edie Geerling’s Nan, Louise, for generously giving her time to help Sue with the apron-cutting process.
Thank you, Sue and Louise, for your wonderful contribution to our school community!

Today, some of our students took part in an environmental excursion with Banyule Council at Olympic Avenue Reserve.
Students had the opportunity to learn about local flora and fauna, ask questions about careers in environmental management, and give back to the community by planting more than 130 plants around the reserve’s new playground.
When Banyule Council asked for our help to improve local play spaces, our students eagerly volunteered. We are so proud of the way they worked together to make a positive contribution to their community 🌱✨

Last week, our Year 1 students had an amazing day at LEGOLAND Discovery Centre Melbourne as part of their inquiry unit on toys.
Students explored the interactive exhibits and took part in a hands on workshop where they investigated different types of movement, including pushing, pulling, spinning and rolling. Through building and experimenting with LEGO, they discovered how toys work while developing their creativity, problem solving and teamwork skills.
It was a fun and engaging day that brought their classroom learning to life! ✨

Our Foundation students had a fantastic time taking part in a special ICT session led by our ICT Captains!
The captains planned and coordinated three engaging rotations, with support from fellow student leaders who generously volunteered their time to help run each activity. Students followed directions to create shapes using a geoboard app on iPads, explored flight by making paper planes and paper helicopters, and had lots of fun using iPads to drive and control little robots.
It was wonderful to see our Prep students so excited, engaged and eager to learn through hands-on experiences.
A huge thank you to our ICT Captains, ICT teacher Jenny, and all of the volunteer captains for their leadership, organisation and enthusiasm in making this such a successful session! 🤖

A little rain didn’t stop the learning in Garden today! 🌧️🌱
Our students kept busy indoors, felting w**d mats from alpaca wool, creating support nets for our spring flowers, and packaging up another tub of seeds for the community seed libraries at Edendale Farm and the Eltham Library.
It’s always wonderful to see our students developing practical gardening skills while contributing to projects that support our wider community. 🌿💚
