Auslan - This year, all the students at St Paul's are learning Auslan. Auslan stands for Australian Sign Language, and it is used by the Deaf Community in Australia. As Auslan is a language where we communicate with our hands, we each made a hand for our Auslan display. In Auslan, we need to know our dominant hand, as it is the active hand and does most of the movement. Each week, the students learn about different topics and how to sign words using their hands and facial gestures- voices are off! The video lessons provide explicit instruction and are filmed by Deaf and Hard of Hearing people. The lessons include fun, interactive activities and weekly reviews of signs that have already been taught. So far this term, our topics have been finger spelling the alphabet, colours and everyday signs such as yes, no, come and go. Next, we will learn about family, school, animals and describing words. The students are showing such a positive and enthusiastic attitude toward the program, and we are all learning together. Well done St Paul's!

Well done to all our swimmers who competed at the District Swimming Carnival at the Belgrave Outdoor Pool. The students were presented with the shield for winning last year's Athletics Carnival.

Our shiny, bright colourful furniture looks spectacular in the Art Room, ready to create more masterpieces.
