Spotted a new bin in your campus kitchen? 👀🍎

New food waste caddies have rolled out across Clayton, Caulfield, Parkville, Peninsula and Monash College campuses. These bins help turn food scraps into compost and reduce waste going to landfill.

Here’s what can go in:
✔️Leftover food
✔️Loose tea leaves
✔️Coffee grounds
✔️Fruit and vegetable scraps

And what can’t:

❌ Paper towels
❌ All cups, cutlery and packaging
❌ Tea bags
❌ Foil and cling wrap
❌ Fruit stickers

Help do your bit by only placing food scraps in the caddies. Remember if you can’t eat it, it can’t go in the organic caddy.

World Environment Day is all about raising awareness and taking action to protect our planet. So remember: big changes start with small habits. You can help reduce waste and protect nature by making simple shifts every day, like:

🚴 Using active transport: Walking, riding a bike or catching public transport

☕ Reusing items: Bringing your own coffee cup or water bottle to campus

🗑️ Sorting your waste: Reducing consumption where you can and recycling consciously
