Smallroom is back! Eat. Word. Pop. That’s our motto for our first event for Trimester 2. Bring your latest raves, rants and musings to share on the open mic. Register at the door. We want to hear your words!

Smallroom Writers Collective is open to the public. $5 entry gets you dinner - hot cheesy pizza and gourmet salads + a ticket in the now infamous door prize. Win big and pick up some free titles from our book fair. A cash bar operates - please bring cash to the venue.

The G07 Drama Theatre is located under the Gold Coast Griffith University campus bar and next to the gym in the Link Building. Parking is available on Theatre’s Lane or you can alight the tram at the Griffith University Hospital stop..

Submissions Open - Talent Implied New Writing from Griffith 2027

Get Published! Submissions are now open for Talent Implied - New Writing from Griffith 2027. This is your chance to be published in a nationally recognised book produced every year at Griffith in the Editing for Publication course.

Submissions are open to poetry, fiction, creative non-fiction or personal essay. We do not accept academic essay. Creative submissions only. No word limits or themes. Maximum of three submissions per student. You must be a current or recently graduated HLSS student within one year of graduation to submit. If you are taking HLSS courses but are studying in another school that’s fine as long as you have been in a HLSS course you are eligible. Postgraduate, study abroad and OUA students in HLSS courses are also eligible and warmly encouraged to apply.

You can submit creative work you have produced in courses in any year of your study. Or work produced outside of courses. Submissions will be accepted until Monday Week 3 Tri 2 - 27 July unless capacity is reached earlier. So don’t delay. Send us your best work!

Described as a ‘smart, compassionate and sexy story’ by novelist Toni Jordon, Life Drawing follows Maisie and Charlie who meet at a life-drawing session as undergraduates: she’s the model, he’s an artist. Their immediate connection carries them across two decades as they navigate the slippery dynamics of friendship, estrangement and family. Life Drawing won the Glendower Award for an Emerging Queensland Writer at the Queensland Literary Awards in 2024. Life Drawing will be available for sale. Have your copy signed by the author
