Over the past week, a group of CSC students have been collaborating with each other to produce a short documentary. They have been planning, researching, and filming the documentary under the mentorship of Tully Hemsley and Jaiden McGregor from That Mob. That Mob is an Indigenous-owned social enterprise delivering hands-on creative storytelling workshops with a focus on social impact. Founded in the Northern Territory, they work alongside young people to build practical skills, confidence, and creative ownership through filmmaking.
Throughout the process, they have met with Darwin-born members of the media, actor Rob Collins, and journalist Laetitia Lemke, who have provided them with advice, insight, and answered questions regarding their careers and the creation of documentaries. This experience was brought to CSC by the Smith Family’s SmArts Program. The SmArts Program is designed to boost student engagement in school through creative skill development, increased self-confidence, and exploration of post-school pathways.
‘This experience was helpful for me as it allowed me to learn more about media and careers I could pursue in the future.’ - Lochlan Hillary
‘Making the documentary has been a really amazing opportunity to get hands on with something I find interesting, and get the freedom to create our own vision with our own thoughts and ideas” - Romy Dixon

Our students headed to the Allwright Training Facility recently for an immersive STEM experience with PowerWater. They got a taste of what goes on behind the scenes to keep our community running—simulating flocculation, flying drones through power poles, and chatting with employees about future career pathways.
An interesting morning of hands-on, learning, fun, and discovering how STEM is involved in our everyday lives.

Recently, our students attended the Youth Summit in Darwin, NT, where they joined young people from seven local high schools to discuss diversity, inclusion, and community cohesion.
The day encouraged open conversations about cultural understanding, respect, and the importance of creating communities where everyone feels valued and included.
Thank you to all involved in making this inspiring event possible.

The Stage 1 Outdoor Education students undertook a hiking camp from Walker Creek to Florance Falls in Week 5. Students were required to plan their own equipment lists and shop for their food and then hike 13km carrying all of their equipment. Students used compasses and maps to navigate the walk, implementing risk management strategies along the way to ensure we weren’t impacted by restricted water supply, sun exposure, or the occasional snake or two. All groups made it to their destinations under the estimated timeframe, and did well to keep motivation up at the end of a long day. Well done Stage 1 OE!

Milulula and Gulppula faced off in the House Cup soccer grand final. The 4 houses have been competing every week this term to lead to our final show down. The teams were both kept scoreless for much of the game with impressive attack and defence from both sides. Eventually Milulula were able to break through Gulppula’s defence and score the winning goal, with the final score being 1-0.
