This week we've learned that small acts of kindness, inclusion, and support can create a safer, happier environment for everyone. When we work together, speak up, and look out for one another, bullying has no place to grow.

Thank you to our students, staff, and families for helping create a culture where everyone feels respected, valued, and supported.

Before posting, commenting, or sending a message, take a moment to think: ✅ Is it kind? ✅ Is it respectful? ✅ Is it necessary?

A simple pause can prevent hurt and help build a culture of kindness and respect both in person and online.

Bullying affects everyone, not just the person being targeted. That's why speaking up, showing support, and seeking help from a trusted adult are powerful ways to create positive change.

Today we're encouraging students to use their influence for good by standing up for others and helping make our school a safer and more inclusive place.

DIFFERENT BRAINS, DIFFERENT STRENGTHS

At our school, we believe every student deserves to feel known, valued and included. We know that every child learns differently, and we celebrate the unique strengths, perspectives and talents that each student brings to our school community.

No two brains are the same. Some children are natural problem-solvers, others are creative thinkers, compassionate friends, talented athletes or gifted musicians. Some learn best by listening, while others learn through movement, visuals or hands-on experiences. Every way of learning has value.

For some students, including those who are neurodivergent, learning and social situations may look a little different. They may benefit from routines, visual supports, movement breaks or other adjustments to help them access learning on the same basis as their peers. These adjustments don't give students an advantage - they provide equitable opportunities for every child to succeed.

The Queensland Department of Education's vision of Every Student Succeeding reminds us that inclusion is about recognising and responding to the individual strengths and needs of every learner. When children experience a sense of belonging, they are more confident to participate, take risks in their learning and reach their potential.

Families play an important role in fostering inclusive attitudes. Talking with children about kindness, empathy and respect for differences helps them understand that everyone has their own strengths and challenges. Encouraging children to celebrate diversity and include others builds friendships, strengthens our community and helps every student feel they belong.

Together, we can create a school where differences are recognised as strengths, diversity is celebrated and every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and succeed. Inclusive schools are stronger schools. When every student belongs, every student has the opportunity to succeed.

THIS WEEK IN PLAYGROUP @ MSS...

Last time at Playgroup we made some fun masks at the craft table, some of us dressed up in costumes in the home corner. We played with balls and hoops outside. We love getting into role, using our imaginations and pretending we are characters. At group time we did, ‘see the bunnies sleeping’. A lot of the children almost looked like they were really going to fall asleep as we covered them up. Some of the children lie down in anticipation when it is group time hoping that we will do this song. Even though sometimes the repetition might seem tedious to the adults we need to remember that repetition is a key in how children learn in younger years.

This week at Playgroup our theme is ‘Australian Beach Adventure’.

Kindness is contagious!

Today, we're focusing on how even the tiniest moments of kindness can have a lasting impact.

Saying hello to someone new, offering help, giving a compliment, or sitting with someone who looks lonely can brighten a person's day and strengthen our school community.

When we choose kindness, we inspire others to do the same.
