✨ When children are given time, space and trust, incredible things happen. ✨

Today, our sandpit transformed into a dinosaur world.

There was no planned activity.
No adult instructions.
No expectations of an end product.

The children led everything.

They gathered magnetic tiles from inside, collected leaves, flowers, coffee berries and natural treasures from around the garden, moved resources from the sensory area, negotiated ideas, solved problems together and slowly built an imaginative prehistoric landscape.

As I watched, I asked one child what was happening.

Without even looking up he replied…

“Nope… too busy. And mind your foot, don’t knock over any of our leaves!”

That one sentence reminded me exactly why uninterrupted play matters.

When children are deeply engaged, they don’t need adults to entertain them—they need adults who protect the time and space for their ideas to grow.

In this one experience they were developing:

🌿 Planning and design thinking
🦕 Problem solving
🌿 Resourcefulness
🦕 Respect for each other’s ideas
🌿 A strong sense of ownership and belonging

Sometimes the richest learning isn’t found in carefully planned activities.

Sometimes it begins with a handful of sand, a few leaves, some magnetic tiles… and children who are simply trusted to create.

A flower to admire, a duck to watch, a pelican gliding by, and time to simply wonder.

Today our friends have delighted in a little “Asian Feast” together. The kiddies have explored a few flavours and traditions of Asia, enjoying bowls of fried rice, fried noodles , chopsticks , ginger tea, beautiful little hats and fans. Our lunch time experience today has sparked lots of curiosity, conversation and encouraging an appreciation for different cultures and traditions.
