Kindy was very busy today with 26 children and their families at playgroup from 9-10.30 and then the working bee crew moved in! We are very grateful for the dedicated parents that gave up some of their precious Saturday time. The sound of sandpaper scratching and the hum of electric sanders, followed by the aroma of decking oil and linseed oil making us look fabulous in all the right places. All were supervised by our resident possum!

During Early Learning Matters Week, we celebrate the power of play in helping every child grow, discover, and thrive.
Play is at the heart of early learning, helping children build confidence, develop language and communication skills, explore their creativity, and learn to solve problems.
Play is always part of our day at MPC!

It’s been a busy last week of Term Two across all units. From weddings, to a runaway gingerbread man, being creative with branches from within our kindy environment, to first adventures walking outside the MPC gate.
Enjoy the break and we look forward to seeing our families when we return for Term Three.

Some days, we can soldier on through sniffles and a clogged-up sinus. Other days, we just need to be home. It's the same for children; a fever, an upset tummy, or that unmistakable feeling that something's not quite right.

When children are unwell, a quiet day with familiar comforts can help their body heal faster than pushing through in a lively environment.

As well as helping to keep our friends healthy and minimising the spread of infection, these rest days also teach children something valuable: listening to your body matters, and sometimes slowing down is exactly what health looks like.

The Unit 1/3 Day children noticed a ringtail possum in our courtyard tree last week and saw that some minor birds were bothering him, so thought how could we help. We searched through our box construction area and found a suitable box. We did have to do some minor repairs to the box first using masking tape. Then we set about attaching the box safely to the tree. We found a leftover apple core from lunch and placed it beside the box. We checked next morning and to our surprise the apple core was gone. We have been leaving fruit every day for our friend and checking each morning. Today when Jordy arrived at Kindy, a little face was looking at her! This is a brush tail possum, and the children are investigating getting a possum box made for this space. The ring tail that was high in the tree has moved on and will be rebuilding a drey hopefully in one of our large kindy trees. We frequently have both varieties in our environment, and they provide us much joy and many opportunities to extend our knowledge.
