A huge congratulations to Andrew-san on achieving his Shodan in Kobudo!

Andrew was evaluated during our recent seminar by Kyoshi Bill Johansen, marking an important milestone in his journey. He was presented with his official Shodan certificate from the IRKRS and Hanshi Patrick McCarthy tonight.

Omedatogozaimash*ta, Andrew! 🙇‍♂️ 👏

We're having a great time at our Annual Kobudo Chief Instructor Seminar with Kyoshi Bill Johansen. The weekend has a strong focus on form following function, and maai [combative distance].

Still much more to go! Looking forward to more Oshiroha Yamaneryu Kobudo as handed down through Hanshi Patrick McCarthy.

Congratulations to Sean-san (3rd Dan), and Lochie-san (2nd Dan) who graded earlier this year, and were just presented their official certificates from the World Matsubayashiryu Karatedo Association (WMKA) Headquarters. Both previously trained at CKD, and now continue their journey at Perth Karate Dojo with Hannah-sensei.

Official certificates from Okinawa! Congrats once again to Sean-senpai & Lochie-senpai on a massive effort for their grading. Lots more training and exciting times ahead 🥋

Our third Women’s Self Defence Program for the year is officially underway!

Having now trained hundreds of women, we’re proud to keep building confidence, awareness and practical skills in our community.

We’re looking forward to seeing the positive outcomes for this latest group!

Sean-senpai (3rd Dan) has been keeping his karate journey moving forward while training at Perth Karate Dojo.

Recently, Sean-san returned to Okinawa, the birthplace of karate, where he had the opportunity to train with Arakaki-sensei (10th Dan) and other local teachers. He also attended the 3rd Okinawa Karate World Festival Demonstration and Tournament seminars, featuring leading Okinawan instructors.

Maintaining strong connections with Okinawa and its traditions is an important part of our karate journey, and it's fantastic to see Sean-san continuing to learn directly from the source.

🎉 Congratulations to our dojo senpai, Nicky-san, on an incredible milestone: her 15 year anniversary! 🥋

This month, we proudly celebrate Nicky-san becoming the first student in our dojo's history to reach 15 years of continuous membership and training [our dojo is 17 this year] in Matsubayashiryu.

As our longest-training student, Nicky-san has been an integral part of our dojo's journey. Her dedication, perseverance, and commitment to traditional karate have been an inspiration to everyone who has trained alongside her.

Over the years, Nicky-san has contributed enormously to the success of our dojo—not only as a dedicated student, but also as a valued member of our community, our leadership team, and our instructor team. Her willingness to support others, share her knowledge, and help our dojo grow has made a lasting impact on countless students.

Thank you, Nicky-senpai, for your commitment, your generosity, and the example you set for others.
