Dancing isn’t cardio. It’s brain therapy.

WHAT RESEARCH SHOWS:

Dancing activates more brain regions simultaneously than any other single activity: β†’ Motor cortex (movement) β†’ Sensory cortex (spatial awareness) β†’ Hippocampus (memory + learning) β†’ Prefrontal cortex (decision-making) β†’ Cerebellum (balance + timing)

Plus: dopamine, serotonin, endorphins, oxytocin release.

THE NEUROSCIENCE:

- Increases BDNF (grows new brain cells) β€’ Activates vagus nerve (calms nervous system) β€’ Improves neuroplasticity (brain adaptability) β€’ Reduces dementia risk by 76% (highest of any physical activity) β€’ Reduces depression + anxiety symptoms

DANCING vs RUNNING:

Both improve cardiovascular health and burn calories.

But only dancing trains: β†’ Complex motor patterns β†’ Cognitive flexibility (improvisation, memory) β†’ Social connection (partner/group dancing) β†’ Emotional expression

Running trains your body. Dancing trains your brain AND body.

THE PROTOCOL:

Frequency: 2-3x/week Duration: 30-60 min Types: partner dancing (salsa, tango), freestyle, choreographed, cultural dance

Pro tips: β€’ Learn new styles regularly (novelty = neuroplasticity) β€’ Dance without mirrors (improves internal awareness) β€’ Vary music tempos (trains nervous system flexibility) β€’ Dance with others (amplifies social benefits)

Today is International Dance Day.

Put on a song. Dance for 5 minutes. Notice how you feel.

Then commit: 2-3x/week. Your brain will thank you.

Tag someone you’ll dance with

πŸ’ƒComment Ticket and see you in NY

It was a huge success and we are well on our way to having studio mirrors for 2026!!

Thank you so much to everyone who came along and to all the helpers who made it happen πŸ’—πŸŒŸ
