On Friday Week 4, our Year 12 students travelled to Flinders University to participate in the Bedford Park Campus Open Day and were joined by the visiting students from the Suito Kokusai study tour.
Each student planned out their day in the weeks leading up to the Open Day and used this opportunity to learn about their future career pathways, scholarships, university life, student clubs and support services. This final piece of research will assist them with their university applications which opened earlier this month.
All of the Year 12 students represented the College to a high standard and we wish them all the best with their university applications.

On Friday 14 August the international students of Hamilton Secondary College were welcomed to Adelaide by IES at a ceremony in Woodville.
They had the opportunity to see unique Australian animals and learn important information about sun safety, beach safety and how to contact emergency services. The students also learned about upcoming Study Adelaide events, enjoyed a Subway meal and connected with other international students from various schools. The excursion provided both an educational and social experience, helping students settle into their new life in Adelaide.

Our new Wellbeing Club launched on Wednesday with activities for Bullying No Way Week. Students created a ‘Be the I in Kind’ mural and did keyring beading. The club is a safe space for anyone to chat and make new friends.

Around 80 students dropped past the rotunda for a special breakfast club yesterday. They enjoyed a delicious feed including pancakes, bacon and eggs and it was a great opportunity to connect with other students and the wellbeing team as part of Bullying No Way Week.

For Bullying No Way’s national week of action we aim to promote kindness, inclusion and anti-bullying messages in several ways:

• Students can join the Wellbeing team under the rotunda for a special Breakfast Club next Tuesday morning from 8 til 8.40am, featuring bacon and eggs, muffins, toast and pancakes.
• Come to the new Wellbeing Club on Wednesday lunchtimes in H08, for Bullying No Way activities, games and crafts.
• During Wednesday Pathways all students will be participating in Bullying No Way learning and activities.

Next week is Bullying No Way Week.
Bullying is everyone’s responsibility, and small acts can make a real difference.
This year’s theme reminds us that actions don’t need to be big to change someone’s world. Small actions – like including someone, speaking up or showing kindness – can create meaningful change.
Our goal is to build environments where everyone belongs, diversity is celebrated and bullying is never accepted.
During Bullying No Way Bullying Week Hamilton will be providing activities for students across the week.

As we settle into Term 3, families are reminded to be vigilant about road safety both in and around our school grounds.
We have had reported cases of cars stopping in the middle of the carpark and blocking people trying to get in and out of individual car parks, as well as not sticking to the speed limits.
Please drive slowly, be aware of students crossing the roads and only park in designated car parking spots. If the car park is busy, consider taking a drive around the block or arriving a little later after traffic has eased.
We want everyone to get to and from school safely.

Recently our Year 10-12 boys and girls badminton teams represented Hamilton Secondary College at the statewide schools competition at St. Peters Girls College. Both teams had been training hard before the day and were hopeful of progressing through to the State Finals.
Our boys team competed hard and registered wins against Woodcroft College (5 rubbers to 3) and Adelaide Botanic High School (7 rubbers to 1). Unfortunately, they were defeated by a very strong outfit at Unley High School who had several State level players on their side. Our girls team also battled hard in each game, registering a win against Adelaide Botanic High School (8 rubbers to 0) but St. Peters Girls and Woodcroft College proved too strong in the end.
Well done to all our students on their performances. We look forward to seeing them compete again next year!
