🎳 Bowling Gala Day & Father’s Day Celebration! 💙

What a fantastic afternoon we had on Thursday 3 September for our Bowling Gala Day! Our students had a wonderful time putting their lawn bowling skills into action and enjoying some friendly competition at the Babinda Bowls Club. 🎳👏

A huge thank you to all of our families who came along to join us for our Father’s Day celebration. It was wonderful to see so many families enjoying the afternoon together, sharing some laughs, food and special moments with our students. 💙

A very special thank you to Mr Richardson, who organised a wonderful special guest to join us for the afternoon. Our students (and families!) loved having the opportunity to meet and hear from Louise Hoskins, a Commonwealth Games Gold Medallist for lawn bowls!

Thank you to everyone who helped make the afternoon such a memorable event. We are so lucky to have such a supportive school community! 🌟

📚✨ BOOK WEEK IS FINALLY HERE! ✨📚

The excitement is building, the books are ready, and our Mystery Readers are getting ready to share their love of reading with us! 🎉📖

Our very first Mystery Reader can’t make it in person, so they’ve already filmed their special video, featuring a much-loved family favourite bedtime story — one that can be enjoyed by all kids (and pets too! 🐶🐱). We can’t wait for you to discover who it is! 👀🤫

📚✨ Book Week Excitement is Building! ✨📚

We are getting ready for an action-packed Book Week at Mirriwinni State School, and this year we have something extra special planned… 👀📖

🌟 Daily Mystery Readers! 🌟
Each day during Book Week, we will welcome a special guest reader into our school to share a favourite story, a chapter from a much-loved book, or a little piece of their reading journey with our students.

But who could they be? 🤔
A community member? A special visitor? Someone you know? A secret book lover hiding in plain sight? 📚✨

We want to hear your guesses… Who do you think will be joining us as our Mystery Readers?🕵️‍♀️📖

Don’t forget:
✅ Premier’s Reading Challenge forms need to be completed and returned by Friday 28 August. We can’t wait to celebrate all the students who have reached their reading goals! 🎉
✅ Friday 28 August is also our Book Week Dress Up Day! 🎭📚 Get your costumes ready and start thinking about how you will bring your favourite book character, reading hero or book-inspired idea to life!

It’s going to be a fantastic celebration of stories, imagination and the joy of reading. We can’t wait to share the Book Week fun with our school community! 📚💫

🎳✨ Bowling Excursion Reminder – Tomorrow! ✨🎳

Just a reminder that tomorrow our students will be heading to the Babinda Bowls Club for a fun morning of bowling! 🎉

🚌 Bus departure: 9:10am
🏫 Return to school: Approximately 11:15am

Students will need to bring:
✅ A hat 🧢
✅ A water bottle 💧

A fruit break will be provided during the excursion. Students will have their lunch and eat as normal once they return to school. 🍎

Please note: If students arrive late and have missed the bus, families will need to arrange transport and drop students directly to the Babinda Bowls Club.

We are looking forward to a great morning of learning new skills, being active and having fun! 🎳😊

👀 We’ve had a few community members reach out after noticing that our much-loved swings have been removed from the playground.

Don't worry – this is all part of the exciting upgrade! 🎉

The old swings have made way for brand new swings, which have now been installed under cover. That means our students will be able to enjoy swinging even during our wet tropical weather! 🌧️➡️😊

We know many of our past and present students have wonderful memories of the old playground, and we can't wait to see a new generation creating even more on the upgraded equipment.

The countdown is on... it's not long now until our students get to explore, climb, swing and play on their amazing new playground!

Our students have been doing an amazing job reading their way through the Premier's Reading Challenge! 🎉 A huge congratulations to everyone who has already completed their reading records and returned them to school. We are so proud of your commitment to reading! 🌟
