🎶 Jellybeans Music at Miranda North 🎶

Our Jellybeans Music program brings music learning to students right across Kindergarten to Year 6, giving every child the opportunity to explore rhythm, movement, percussion, listening and musical concepts in an engaging and practical way.

This week, students have been working with Grieg’s In the Hall of the Mountain King, using hand percussion and learning how musicians follow their parts on an orchestral score. It is a wonderful way to build concentration, coordination and an understanding of how different musical parts come together.

We love seeing music brought to life across our classrooms and watching students grow in confidence as performers, listeners and musicians. 🎵🥁

Last week, Stage Two students had a beautiful day of learning at Kamay National park. Here they explored Aboriginal tools and sustainable living practices through hands-on activities and historical sources. They also participated in a play exploring the arrival of early explorers, including Captain James Cook, and the first interactions between the Gweagal people and the Europeans. Through these experiences, students developed a deeper understanding of the Gweagal people, their stories, and the events that have shaped this significant place over time.

🏛️🦋 MNPS K–2 MUSEUM 🕷️✨

Something special is coming to Miranda North!

The students of KC, K/1L, 1/2S and 2MV are excited to invite our school community to the MNPS K–2 Museum.

Across the term, our K–2 students have been exploring big ideas in fascinating ways. Stage 1 have investigated insects and the ancient worlds of Greece and Rome, while Kindergarten have also been learning about insects and discovering how transport has changed over time.

Now it’s time to open the museum doors and share their learning, creativity and incredible work with you.

Another busy week ahead at Miranda North! From dance, music and PSSA to our Community Conversations: Student Voice and Leadership, there’s plenty happening across the school.

💛 Thursday is R U OK? Day, a timely reminder for our students that checking in, listening and showing kindness can make a big difference. Sometimes a simple “Are you OK?” is a great place to start. 💛

Congratulations to our Rayden Role Models!

A huge congratulations to this month’s Rayden Role Model Award winners, Remi and Lera!

You are shining examples of what it means to show respect, responsibility and safety every day. We are so proud of the positive example you set for others!

We also want to celebrate Scarlett, who was unable to attend our last whole-school assembly as she was proudly representing our school at Southern Stars. Scarlett was also recognised as a Rayden Role Model for her outstanding efforts and the wonderful way she represents our school.

What a way to start the day!

A huge thank you to all the dads, grandads and father figures who came along this morning to celebrate the special role you play in our students’ lives.

The sun was shining, the coffee van was working overtime, the BBQ was sizzling, and the morning was packed with basketball, handball, soccer, paper planes, card games and board games!

There may have been some serious sporting rivalries, highly questionable handball moves and a few dads discovering just how competitive paper plane flying can get…

Nothing better than starting the day with sunshine, coffee, a sausage sizzle and quality time together. Thanks for making it such a special morning!
