Our Historical Society recently visited the Wheatlands Agricultural Museum and the Warracknabeal Historical Centre.
Both centres are very worthy of a visit and highlight our region’s rich history, and the many hours of hard work and dedication contributed by its members.

WHEATLANDS AGRICULTURE MUSEUM - located at 34 Henty Highway is open Friday to Monday 10am -12 pm 1-5 pm.
Closed Tuesday to Thursday.
The museum now has a free barbecue area and sand pit.
There is something for all ages at the museum

WARRACKNABEAL HISTORICAL CENTRE- located at 81 Scott Street in the old State Bank is open Monday to Friday 2-4 pm. A contact list is provided on their entrance

We have had a request regarding the Mount Pleasant football club and where it was located. If anyone has any information could you please message?
Graham Bergman was out June guest speaker and spoke about his grandfather Pat, who was one of our original Pioneers.
Pat took up land in 1875 on Mt Pleasant Rd, after arriving from Ireland in 1865. Pat was very successful and also expanded his original settlement.

The next meeting of the Minyip Historical Society is this Tuesday, 19th May 6 pm at the Memorial hall, please BYO drinks and a small plate to share. All welcome.

President Wayne will be providing an update on our pioneer board with hopefully, our first map showing the settlement of Nulan to view.

The 1869 land act, as mentioned in President Wayne‘s Latest guardian- Minyip District Selectors, was very important in the establishment of the farm community and our towns as we know today 
Wikipedia also is a great source of information.

Shirleigh also sells our books and spare Guardians and her shop is well worth a visit

I have only found a small amount of information in our files and no photos
We have had a request from someone writing a book on the closed Masonic Lodges in Victoria

Next Friday the 19th of December will be our last of opening until February 6th 2026.

The shade sail at the town square has been installed and looks fantastic!
A big thank you to the Minyip Community Bank (RMFG), Minyip Progress Association and the Lions Club of Minyip for their wonderful support.
The sail will be beneficial for our Australia Day Breakfast, the Show & Shine Event, Remembrance Day, and many other town gatherings and outdoor events.

Thanks to Shirleigh’s Place for helping to promote our town and sell our Historical Society books and Guardians.

The Historical Society will close on Friday 19th of December and reopen again on Friday 6th February.

A big congratulations to June Walsh from The Minyip & District Historical Society on her hundredth birthday today. Don’t forget to join June on Sunday for a celebration.
June will be our guest speaker at our next Historical Meeting at the Memorial Hall reception room on Tuesday 17th June, 6pm.
