Creating a Safer Community! 🌟

At Redfern Cottage Early Learning Centre, we believe that even the smallest hands can make a big difference! 💚

Our little learners have been busy creating something special for our centre! 🎨✨

Through their creativity and imagination, the children designed personalised lanyard cards for our visitors, families attending tours, therapists, handymen and other professionals who visit our service.

What makes these lanyards extra special? Each one features artwork lovingly created by our children! 🥰

Beyond being a fun creative experience, this meaningful project gave our children the opportunity to contribute to our centre's safety practices. By involving them in creating visitor identification, we are helping children develop an understanding of safety, belonging and the different people who visit and support our learning community.

This experience supports the National Quality Standard, particularly:

🛡️ Quality Area 2 – Children's Health and Safety: Supporting a child-safe environment through visitor identification and helping children build awareness of safety practices.

🚀🪐 Space Week at Redfern Cottage! 🌎✨

What a wonderful week of learning and discovery!

Our little explorers had a fantastic time discovering the wonders of space! Throughout the week, the children enjoyed a variety of hands-on experiences that sparked their curiosity and encouraged them to explore, create and use their imaginations.

From learning about planets, stars and rockets to enjoying sensory play, creative arts and imaginative experiences, there was so much excitement and curiosity in every activity! 🌙⭐

Through these playful experiences, the children had opportunities to develop their creativity, problem-solving skills, language and fine motor skills, while building confidence and sharing their discoveries with their friends.

It was lovely to see how much joy and excitement these experiences brought to our little learners. After all, some of the best learning happens when children are having fun! 💫

🐨🌿 Learning More About Australian Animals 🌿🦘

Following our Save the Koala Day learning experiences, the children showed a wonderful interest in learning more about koalas, wildlife, and other Australian animals.

To extend their knowledge and curiosity, we provided a variety of engaging experiences based on their interests, including sensory play, dramatic play, playdough exploration, creative arts, and storybook reading. Through these experiences, the children had opportunities to explore, create, communicate, and develop a deeper appreciation for Australia’s unique wildlife. 🐨🦘🦜

We love following the children’s interests and extending their learning through meaningful, hands-on experiences. 💛

🦸‍♀️💥 SUPERHERO WEEK IN OUR LITTLE EXPLORERS ROOM! 💥🦸‍♂️

Our toddlers had a super fun week celebrating Superhero Week! 🌟

Throughout the week, our Little Explorers enjoyed a variety of hands-on learning experiences, including:

✨ Exploring different sensory experiences, encouraging curiosity and discovery through touch and play.

🛡️ Creating their own superhero shields through painting, supporting creativity, self-expression, and hand-eye coordination.

🦸‍♂️ Saving the superheroes through fun fine motor activities, helping strengthen their little hands and develop coordination.

🎭 Making their own superhero masks, encouraging imagination and creative expression.

🧠 Extending their cognitive skills through matching activities, supporting concentration, problem-solving, memory, and visual recognition.

It was wonderful to see our toddlers learning, creating, exploring, and having fun with their little friends throughout the week! ❤️

🔬🌱 Science Week at Redfern Cottage! 🌱🔬

What an exciting week of discovery, curiosity and hands-on learning!

Throughout Science Week, our children became little scientists as they explored a variety of fun experiments and sensory experiences. From planting seeds and creating mini greenhouses to exploring colours, water, textures and cause-and-effect, every experience encouraged our children to investigate, explore and discover. 🧪🌈🌱

This year’s National Science Week theme, “Seeds of Science: Nurturing Knowledge for All,” gave us a wonderful opportunity to spark curiosity and nurture a love of learning from an early age.
We loved seeing the children’s excitement as they experimented, made discoveries and learned through play. 💚

🌋 Exploring Volcanic Eruptions! 🌋

This week, our young learners have been showing a wonderful interest in volcanoes and volcanic eruptions! 🔬✨

Following their curiosity, the children worked together to create their very own volcano using sand. With guidance from their educators, they explored a fun eruption experiment using baking soda, vinegar and food colouring, carefully adding the ingredients with droppers and watching with excitement as their volcano began to bubble and erupt! 🌋🫧

This hands-on experience encouraged the children to observe, predict, explore cause and effect, and develop their curiosity about science.

To extend their learning, the children then used their creativity to create their own volcano paintings, expressing what they had discovered through art. 🎨❤️

We love turning our children’s interests into meaningful learning experiences!
