Imagine growing your very first broccoli 🥦 Our little people have checked and checked every single day to see if our broccoli’s are growing in our garden.

We finally harvested some veges from our garden last week, where our little gardeners helped to pick, wash, cut (very carefully), and cook up our long-awaited broccoli and silverbeet. The most exciting part was finding a wiggly friend at the bottom of our washing bowl 🐛

We love seeing how their brains think and process, how they relate previous topics and interests, and how they perceive their world around them 🫶🏼

Construction has been a big part of our program this year and we are always finding ways to get children resourcing their own learning and play 🔨
Because we love a cardboard creation, over the past few weeks children have helped to cut, paint and screw together boxes to house our incoming supply of recycled materials.

What some people might see as an organised pile of rubbish, we see opportunities for imagination, learning, problem solving, interaction and motor skill development. We can’t wait to see what this can turn into over the next term!

The Grove plane has taken flight! ✈️ Children have worked so hard to construct their plane from cardboard boxes, complete with wings, windows and a cockpit.

Our trusty Makedo tools have helped us out again, keeping our creation strong and fit for lots of imaginary play. We completed our project by using recycled materials as buttons in the cockpit, and have purchased some very cute pilot dress ups.

So far, we flown to Singapore, Morocco, London, Queensland, Newcastle and even down to Adams shop Ashcrofts IGA Orange 🛫 🇸🇬 🇲🇦 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 🇦🇺

Places at Grove Start are filling quickly, and we are now accepting enrolments for 2027.

With small group sizes, experienced educators and a strong focus on connection and play, our unique preschool program offers children a holistic experience that supports a successful and confident transition to Millthorpe Public School.

We’ve been a bit quiet on here lately as we’ve been preparing for our favourite day of the year - Mother’s Day! 🌷

The wonderful Chelsea came in to help children create beautiful little pinch pots for their mum’s precious things. This was a simple yet challenging activity that produced such unique pots for every child, and something we hope our lovely mums will treasure for years to come.

This year we have welcomed lots of fabulous grandmothers into our classroom to share a special skill or interest with our little people. Recently the children learnt how to mosaic with ‘Henny’, making beautiful stepping stones for our front garden 🪴

🌱 Blayney High School Visit 🌱

We have loved welcoming Year 9/10 students from Blayney High School during Term 1!

It's been such a special opportunity for our children and the students to connect, learn and have fun together. They have spent time engaging in craft activities, reading stories, playing games and enjoying play time outside. The students planned some thoughtful Easter activities for the children to enjoy at the end of the term as well.

We are already so impressed by the students' enthusiasm, responsibility and the way they've embraced this hands-on experience. We're fortunate to be able to show them what it's really like to work in early childhood education, and how rewarding and fun it can be!

🌳 A huge thank you to Bunnings Warehouse Australia for donating two new vegetable garden beds and bags of fertiliser to help us continue and expand our gardening project! We have recruited some fabulous local garden experts, Maree and Mary Ann, who have already started to transform our garden, planting new vegetables to grow in the winter that children are caring beautifully for.
