Our first prep transition day is this Thursday!

Students in class 7/8C have been participating in a specialist program. They have surveyed the market, looked at advertising, costing, production and sales tactics. We then baked and sold cookies to staff and students each week, for the past 4 weeks. The profits made will be going to fund our class’s term 4 program.

Year 7 Geography
The Story of a River

At the top of the mountains, you will find the source of the river. Tributaries flow down the mountain creating waterfalls when it rains. These flow into a permanent swimming hole where people spend time having a picnic and swimming on the river banks. After the people leave, pollution remains: coffee dregs, plastic, oil and detergent. All this flows into the main river where farmers use the water to irrigate and people fish. Fertiliser and manure are swept on the wind into the river. The farmer dams the river, slowing the natural flow causing the river to flood into the housing estate. What was once a beautiful, free flowing river is now dirty and manipulated by humans. The water ends up in the mouth of the river, flowing into the ocean, taking plastics, oils, fishing lines and other pollutants. ☹

This is the story Year 7 Geography students created today while studying Water in the World.

Congratulations and good luck to Chase Sinclair and Paddy Stevens who will represent at the 9-12 years Darling Downs Athletics trials on Thursday and Friday following their outstanding results at Inner Downs Athletics Trials.

Chase will compete in the 9 years boys 80m sprint and long jump, after finishing third and second in these events respectively at Inner Downs trials.

Paddy will compete in the 11 years boys 200m & 100m sprint events, long jump and the tetrathon, after finishing first in both his sprint events at Inner Downs trials, second in the tetrathon and third in long jump.
