📚✨ Celebrating Book Week at Kindy! ✨📚
Book Week is a cherished tradition across Australian early learning centres and schools. Established by the Children’s Book Council of Australia (CBCA), Book Week celebrates a love of reading and recognises the wonderful contribution of Australian authors and illustrators. Over the decades, it has grown into a much-loved nationwide celebration of storytelling, creativity, dress-ups and all things books! 📖💕
We had so much fun celebrating Book Week at Kindy, with children dressing up as their favourite book characters and sharing in the joy and imagination that stories inspire. 🦸♀️🧚♂️🐻
We also enjoyed some special visits to the library, where Kristie read one of this year’s Book Week honour books, Derek by Anna Donaldson and Matt Shanks, with the children. We then got creative making our own colourful fish inspired by the story. 🐟🎨
A huge thank you to our local library and Kristie for welcoming us and helping make our Book Week celebrations so special! 📚💛
On Wednesday, we had a wonderful time visiting Newbery Park Primary School for their Book Week parade, joining together with Gladys Smith Early Learning Centre and McArthur Park Kindy. Our children loved seeing so many amazing and creative costumes from children across our local community and sharing in the excitement and joy of Book Week together. A big thank you to Newbery Park Primary School for welcoming us and helping create such a wonderful community celebration! 💕📖
Thank you to Beau's Nanny, Donna, who joined us on Thursday to read us the story The Very Steep Hill, written by Ben Kitchin and illustrated by Megan Kitchin. The children thoroughly enjoyed this experience, a big thank you Donna! 🥰
