Last Friday our Year 2 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to Edendale Community Environment Farm as part of our Inquiry Unit. Throughout the day, students learnt about sustainability and the important ways we can care for our environment. They explored how to correctly use our rubbish bins, discovered ways to reduce water usage and learnt about the important role worms play in keeping our ecosystem healthy. It was a fun and engaging experience that helped students make real-world connections to their learning.

This term, the Year 4 students have enthusiastically participated in chemical and material science experiments as part of their inquiry unit. During the Mad About Science in school activity, students explored mixing chemicals and learnt about the difference between temporary physical changes and chemical changes. Back in the classroom, they worked collaboratively to design protective structures for an egg drop challenge and were excited to test the success of their designs. Throughout the unit, students have been developing their understanding of the scientific investigation process by asking questions, making predictions and discussing their results. They are now looking forward to designing and conducting their own experiments over the coming weeks.

Education Week is an annual celebration of education in Victoria.
This year Education Week will be celebrated from Monday 18th of May to Friday 22nd of May 2026.
This year's theme, ‘Showcase Your School’, encourages school communities to celebrate what’s great about their school.
Every Victorian school is great in its own unique way, whether it’s the people, the place, the learning opportunities or the school community.
In 2026, Plenty Parklands Primary School will be celebrating Education Week by integrating the following activities into the classroom program; Numeracy Dice Challenge, Plenty Parklands Promotion Project and PPPS Trivia- what do you know about PPPS?
We look forward to celebrating Education Week at PPPS.

Our Prep students have been very excited during our Inquiry unit as we have become weather scientists! We have observed the weather outside using windsocks, explored different types of clouds, and investigated how weather can change from day to day. The students have loved wearing their scientist coats, making observations, and learning more about the world around them.
