In recognition of International Day of Play, we have engaged in a meaningful exploration of what play is and what play looks like within our Kool Kidz community. This inquiry has been strongly informed by children's voices, perspectives, and lived experiences, providing valuable insight into how children perceive and experience play.
This learning is closely aligned with Article 31 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, which acknowledges every child's right to rest, leisure, play, and participation in recreational activities. By actively listening to and valuing children's contributions, we have strengthened our understanding of the significance of play from the child's perspective.
This reflection will continue to inform our practice as we strive to provide rich, engaging, and meaningful play opportunities that are responsive to children's interests, strengths, and ideas. We are committed to fostering an environment where children's voices are respected and empowered, enabling them to actively contribute to and help shape our ongoing curriculum. Through this collaborative approach, we ensure that children's agency remains central to our planning, decision-making, and learning experiences

If you can donate any of the items below, we have a donation box in reception. Open Monday to Friday 6:30am to 6:30pm.
WE URGENTLY NEED YOUR HELP.
Right now, our shelves, tubs and storage areas are running critically low. In some categories, they're almost empty.
We're urgently seeking donations of quality preloved and new children's items, with a particular need for winter clothing for children aged 6+, cot and bassinette linen, and new toiletries.
Every day, health and welfare professionals refer children to Big Group Hug who need clothing, shoes, books, baby equipment, toiletries, bedding, and other everyday essentials. But right now, we're struggling to keep up with demand.
If you've been meaning to clear out the cupboard or pass on items your children have outgrown, now is the time.
Please note: We do not need portacots or baby baths at the moment.
Even if you don't have items to donate, you can still help. We're asking if you can:
• Share this post to your stories
• Send it to your WhatsApp groups
• Tag a friend who may be able to help
• Like and comment to help more people see it
The more people who see this, the more children we can support.

This year one of our own educators is taking part in the Melbourne Firefighter Stair Climb where Mia will be climbing 28 floors with 25kg of turnout gear and breathing apparatus.
The weight of the gear is a symbol of the burden placed on many first responders and their families every day. The significant health and well-being issues many first responders face.
Please help Mia "Step up to fight cancer, depression, and su***de" by donating to the link below.

Today the children proudly participated in National Simultaneous Storytime, joining children across Australia to listen to Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller by Adam Jackson and Adrian Lloyd.
The story was read aloud precisely at 12 noon, connecting our learning community with schools and early learning services nationwide.

Our weekly Bush kinder excursions significantly benefit children by fostering holistic development.
The unstructured outdoor play builds essential gross motor skills, enhances problem-solving abilities, reduces stress, and instills a lifelong appreciation for the environment, all while supporting social-emotional growth.

📚✨ Literacy Night at Kool Kidz ✨📚
This week we once again held our annual Literacy Night, bringing families together to learn ways to continue supporting their children’s early literacy development at home. 💛
Our focus story for the evening was the beloved Possum Magic, and the children thoroughly enjoyed participating in a variety of engaging experiences inspired by the book. From hands-on activities to shared moments of learning, it was wonderful to see children and families connecting through literacy and play. 📖🐾
Thank you to all of our families who joined us for another wonderful evening of learning, fun and connection! 🌟
