We are continuing in our 4th year of our ELLA Program with our 4 year old kinder children learning the Italian language.

What is ELLA?
Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) is a digital, play-based language learning program for preschool children. It opens up a world of cultural possibilities for children early in life. This Australian Government initiative inspires children by driving a genuine interest in a new language and culture.

Children learn Italian using play-based apps called The Polyglots. (A polyglot is someone who is multilingual.) They use the apps on tablet devices at preschool. The apps were designed with help from language, early childhood and technology experts.

Benefits of ELLA
A new language
ELLA is a proven method of language discovery for preschoolers. It can also keep them interested in learning a language at school.

Cultural competency
Children learn to respect diversity as they learn about new cultures. ELLA encourages families to share home languages too.

Cognitive and social skills
ELLA develops children’s social, thinking and digital skills. It supports their literacy, and can even improve memory and concentration.

If you would like your child to participate in our Kinder program in 2021, please send us an online enquiry and we will take you through our centre https://www.koolkidzchildcare.com.au/mill-park/

From our Kool Kidz family to yours, we wish you a very happy Diwali, and a year full of lights, prosperity and success!

Happy Diwali 🪔 to all of our staff, children and parents who celebrate.
The team shared an amazing spread of food brought in by them along with traditional dress.
Celebrate well and keep safe.

In a Media Release earlier today Premier Daniel Andrews announced that the Victorian government will be providing additional funding for Kindergarten services in 2021.

The funding is encouraging families to enrol their child/ren in Kindergarten and experience some fee relief.

At this point no details have been provided around how this funding will be rolled out and what the support will entail. We can however confirm that Long Day Care Kindergarten services will receive support that will translate to families experiencing a “saving of around $2000 in fees”.

We are incredibly excited about this initiative and welcome any relief for our families in this challenging time. As we receive more details we will share these with you.

Each year at Kool Kidz Mill Park we support a local charity in the lead up to Christmas. This year we are supporting United Minds Community Services Christmas Appeal: a local not-for-profit support service founded in 2013 as a community based bulk billing psychology service. The purpose of the service is to bridge the gap in access to mental health support by removing the financial burden of psychological support.

This week is NAIDOC week 2020 - Always Was, Always Will Be. recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years.

Always Was, Always Will Be. acknowledges that hundreds of Nations and our cultures covered this continent. All were managing the land - the biggest estate on earth - to sustainably provide for their future.

NAIDOC 2020 invites all Australians to embrace the true history of this country – a history which dates back thousands of generations.

It’s about seeing, hearing and learning the First Nations’ 65,000+ year history of this country - which is Australian history. We want all Australians to celebrate that we have the oldest continuing cultures on the planet and to recognise that our sovereignty was never ceded.

Nothing like some fresh tan bark for the outdoor play spaces.
Thanks to Nirasha and Vanessa and their families for their assistance. Made the task much quicker. 🙏 😊
Thanks to our friends at Aumanns. We might have treated them to some frozen drinks at the end of the day too.

Halloween 👻 🎃 dress up day at Kool Kidz Mill Park. Check out all of these costumes. The children had a fantastic day sharing these costumes with their friends.
Stay safe tomorrow for Halloween 🎃

Each week our 3 year old kinder children get to participate in their Bush Kinder Excursion.

Today a group of children went and collected different sized leaves to compare as part of one of the planned experiences for the session.

As the children collected their leaves, they also saw some trains go past towards mernda and also back towards the city. And weren’t they excited.

BOOK AND FOOTY DRESS UP WEEK

Our children have loved dressing up in their favourite costumes all week being able to share with their teachers and friends who their favourite characters and football teams are.

We had fire fighters, spider man, witches, Elsa, Batman and many more characters.

Dress up week is one of our children’s favourite weeks.

Today our Kinder children read a very new book which was illustrated by our very own Sofia called “What is the key to my heart?” By Lisa Locks.
The children thoroughly enjoyed this new book. 📖

Today marked the start of Book Week and we had a group of our Kinder children come dressed in some fantastic costumes. They explained why they chose their particular costume and why is what their favourite.

We also had some children dress in their footy colours this week to celebrate footy week.

We encourage all the children to come dressed as their favourite character or their sports team colours over the week.

This week marks the start of our library borrowing system in Kinder. We had our first group of children borrow books and they were excited to use the bags that they decorated earlier today.

We discussed how long they got to keep the book (1 week) and how they could borrow another one, once they brought their book back.

We look forward to hearing what the children have to say about the books that they have borrowed!

Kool Kidz Mill Park

Our 3 year old kinder children today went on their weekly Bush Kinder excursion.

As we walked to the site, we looked for signs of spring. The children noticed the sun shine, the grass starting to grow, and the buds are beginning to grow on the trees and bushes.

The children talked about camping 🏕 on the way to the site. Therefore, we implemented a pretend camp fire on the site. The children were encouraged to share ideas of the needs at camp including food, water, a tent, and wood.

We explored our surroundings by collecting some rocks and sticks for our pretend camp fire. We made a big circle out of rocks and placed sticks inside the circle. We sat around the circle and talked about fire safety. The children commented “we have to stay away from the fire so we don’t burn ourselves”.

Later, we enjoyed roasting pretend marshmallows on the pretend camp fire and listening to a beautiful story around it.

We all had a great time.

Now there’s an amazing thoughtful Wellness Wednesday spread with little poems and an info book for the staff room too for mental health month. 💓

Wellness Wednesday continues at Kool Kidz Mill Park with these gorgeous gifts this week from one of our educators to every other educator.
Each week we are surprised by the different gifts and the passion for sharing and supporting each other.

We would like to wish all of the Father's of the world a very Happy Father's Day. Enjoy your day as best you can in ISO.

Tomorrow is Father's Day and here is a last minute activity to do with the children for their Dad.
We hope you enjoy this handprint Father's Day card.

Look at the differences between a typical younger child’s hand (left) and a typical older child's hand (right).
We have parents asking regularly why their preschool aged child isn’t able to write yet. This is why! Their hands (and brains) are still developing and are not fully formed.
So what should they be doing to support this? PLAY!! Playdough, colouring, cutting, gluing, playing outside, digging in dirt, sensory play, dress up play, science experiments, beading, puzzles, throwing balls, etc. All of these things help their hands develop.
When they are physically ready to write, they will! No need to rush them, they will show you when they are ready!
