Book Week began with plenty of excitement across the College today.

We kicked off the day with our Primary Assembly, featuring a wonderful performance from our College Band to celebrate the start of Book Week: Symphony of Stories.

At lunchtime, students gathered to enjoy story time with Miss Martin, followed by a delightful performance of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. With students joining in as actors and plenty of entertaining props, the performance had everyone smiling and thoroughly engaged.

It was a fantastic way to celebrate the joy of reading, storytelling, and imagination as we begin this special week.

Learning Spotlight ||| Year 7 Individuals & Societies

What does it really mean to acknowledge Country?

As part of their Ancient Australia unit, our Year 7 learners have been exploring Connection to Country and the significance it holds for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Students have looked beyond simply hearing the words Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country, exploring where these practices come from, why they are important, and the meaningful difference between the two.
The learning then became personal. Each student has begun creating their own Acknowledgement of Country, moving beyond a standard script to consider what connection, respect and gratitude mean to the indigenous people. Students are encouraged to add their own voice and personal touch, making their acknowledgement something they understand rather than simply something they recite.
As their confidence grows, learners will have the opportunity to share their acknowledgements with one another in a safe and respectful classroom environment.
A thoughtful learning experience that has encouraged our Year 7's to listen, reflect, ask questions and better understand the Country on which we live and learn.

A Busy Day at the Teddy Bear Hospital

After what felt like a very long week of cold weather, I decided it was time to escape the office and see what was happening around the College. As I wandered through the Year 1 area, I heard something very exciting... there was a Teddy Bear Hospital in full swing!

I immediately thought one of my own teddy bears might need a check-up too. But before rushing off to book an appointment, I couldn't resist stopping by to see how all the other patients were doing.

What I discovered was a hospital full of very caring doctors, nurses, and specialists. There were teddy bears with asthma, bears needing X-rays for broken bones, bears requiring a check-up from the GP, and even a few learning all about healthy eating. Thankfully, our Year 1 students were on hand to provide the very best care possible.
The room was buzzing with excitement as our young learners used their imaginations, practised their communication skills, and showed incredible kindness as they cared for their furry friends.

But then we had a Big Bear visitor, who joined in and had lots of fun with the Year 1 students. By the end, there were plenty of happy teddy bears heading home, feeling much better, thanks to the love and attention of our wonderful Year 1 students.

Around the College ||| Planting the Seeds of Science

National Science Week began with a beautiful example of our school community working together.

Our Year 9 students were outstanding mentors, using exceptional communication skills to share their energy-efficient, renewable, and cost-effective Sustainable Future Housing Designs with our Prep learners.

Our Preps used their inquiry skills to search the models for forces in action. This connected perfectly with their own science experiments this term, where they have been building essential social skills while investigating how forces cause movement.

We are so proud of our Year 9 thinkers who planted the "Seeds of Science," and our growing Prep scientists during this wonderful shared learning experience.

Our Year 4 and 5 students had the exciting opportunity to meet members of the Victorian Women’s State Cricket Team. Students enjoyed meeting the players, asking questions, taking part in a fun cricket challenge, and collecting autographs and photos. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn from elite athletes and enjoy some hands-on cricket fun!

Today, we were privileged to welcome Nathan Cavaleri to the College, where he shared his inspiring story and performed for our students as part of his Beyond Fear & Anxiety presentation.

Through his authentic and engaging approach, students gained valuable insights and practical strategies to support their wellbeing and personal growth.

Around the College ||| Year 5 Primary

During a walk around the College today, I stumbled across a group of Year 5 students deep in a science experiment outside the classroom.

Curious to see what was happening, I popped inside and found students completely immersed in their learning. The room was buzzing with excitement as groups discussed their findings, tested theories, worked through formulas, and debated why certain results worked while others didn't.

It was wonderful to see so much curiosity, collaboration, and critical thinking in action. Future scientists in the making? We think so!

Year 4-10 Athletics Carnival

Yesterday, our Year 4-10 students took part in the annual Athletics Carnival.

While the weather certainly reminded us that winter is still here, the cold didn't dampen the spirits of our students. Throughout the day, we witnessed outstanding sportsmanship, determination, encouragement, and house pride on display across every event.

A huge congratulations to all students for giving their best, supporting one another, and making the day such a positive celebration of participation and healthy competition. Well done to everyone involved.
