🌟 Celebrating Our Quality and Compliance Achievements - Mildura Central ELC 🌟

We’re proud to share our VECRA Quality and Compliance History!

VECRA has introduced a new requirement for Victorian early learning services to display their Quality and Compliance History (in addition to Assessment & Rating certificate).

Our Exceeding National Quality Standard rating and excellent compliance record reflect our ongoing commitment to providing children with high-quality education, care and learning experiences.

This achievement would not be possible without our dedicated educators, supportive families and wonderful children. Thank you for helping make our service community special.

Please see our attached Quality and Compliance History for further information.

Would you like to experience our centre for yourself? Call us to arrange a tour—we would love to show you around!

Meet Huggtopus!

Huggs has six spotty legs and an infectious smile.
She feels her emotions BIG and LOUD with her main ones being frustrated, excited and silly.
Huggtopus loves hugs and playing with her friends!
Huggs often needs reminding to respect boundaries and wait for her turn instead of pushing through.
Sometimes her silly body can become overwhelming when she feels excited, needing support to settle down.
One of Huggtopus' key lessons encourages children to use their ‘Stop’ hand during moments of frustration.

Over the past month, the children have been so excited to share some fun games and learning opportunities with Huggs!

Recently our Starfish children ventured out of the service, for their first excursion of 2026!
They took the opportunity to explore nature in our surrounding community as part of Nature Play Week!
Later in the week, the children created a beautiful collaborative pasting with all of the pieces of nature they had collected! 🌿

In the lead up to ANZAC Day, we had Brad from Mildura RSL Sub-Branch INC come to visit our service.
He shared the different parts of his uniform with the children.
The children were very excited to be given the opportunity to try on the various pieces of uniform, before proudly gifting Brad with the Poppy the children throughout the centre had collaborated to create.
This was such a rewarding opportunity for the children to connect with our community, while furthering their knowledge and understanding of ANZAC Day, and honouring our brave servicemen and women.

This week our Kimochi character, Cloud, has been introduced to the children of MCELC, ready to be a part of their learning and exploration throughout 2026!

Cloud's favourite food is butter scotch pudding, and his favourite number is 9.
He can be very moody at times, easily switching from happy to sad to mad!
He holds all of his emotions in his belly and they can explode at times.
When he feels sad or mad, he uses his calm down breath to make those feelings smaller.
Cloud encourages children to do the same, pretending to smell a flower and blow out the candle as a key tool.
Cloud isn't just about calming breaths, sometimes when he feels mad, he likes to march out his madness or play mad animals to regulate instead.

Over the next couple of weeks, Cloud will be popping up in your child’s room to play as we begin to introduce our Kimochi wellbeing program for the new year!
