Our Mildura team has been busy preparing for a very special milestone — Kinder Graduation for our wonderful 4-year-olds!

From beautiful setups to delicious food and thoughtful details, our team has worked hard to create a celebration that honours the big year our kinders have had. 🌟

A huge shout-out to our amazing educators who poured their hearts into every moment of preparation — your dedication makes these celebrations truly meaningful. 💐✨

What a powerful evening of learning!
Last night, our educators from across Australia joined a 2-hour webinar with Kate Hodgekiss, Owner and Director of Engaging Curriculum Solutions and a respected expert in trauma-informed practice and behaviour support. Her session, “Appropriate & Inappropriate Discipline for Children,” delivered practical, meaningful insights for our teams.

The session explored:
✨ Understanding each child’s Window of Tolerance
✨ Responding to big behaviours with connection, not punishment
✨ Supporting children with trauma, ADHD, PDA and other neurodiversities
✨ Why attunement — truly knowing each child — matters
✨ The importance of educator wellbeing and looking after ourselves

One of the most memorable moments was Kate’s “golf balls, pebbles and sand” story.
💛 Golf balls represent the most important things in life: family, health, meaningful relationships, wellbeing, and the things that bring us joy and purpose.
Kate reminded us to prioritise these first — because when we look after ourselves, we can better support the children in our care.

Our educators described the session as:

🌟 “So helpful for understanding children’s big emotions.”
🌟 “A great reminder that connection comes first.”

Our tree remains the same cherished symbol, now refreshed and more modernised. It continues to represent growth, connection, and community — with roots grounded in care and branches reaching upward as children learn, explore, and thrive.

🌟 Celebrating Our Educators’ Commitment to Learning! 🌟

A couple of nights ago, we were thrilled to have 74 educators nationwide join our “Trauma-Informed Practice” session — and we know many more participated in groups, watching together in teams!

The session focused on brain development in relation to trauma, covering theory around brain development as well as practical pedagogical strategies to support all children — including those who may experience any form of trauma. It was a fantastic opportunity for our teams to expand their knowledge, gain actionable insights, and deepen their understanding of trauma-informed care.

This training is part of Bright Steps Academy’s ongoing commitment to professional development, ensuring every educator feels supported and equipped to create nurturing, inclusive environments for our little people 💕.
